It states that pre October 2018 cars (ie PEs) have not been part of the (2849) replacement programme. I hope that they re included in any free upgrade nevertheless - unless it is very clear that they are not affected.

Interesting. Suggestion is that the revised part was fitted from May 22 onwards, whereas online commentary was indicating Nov 22.

Good news as less cars affected. Fingers crossed this can be laid to rest.
IIRC some owners with newer cars than this have been affected, surely Alpine have a record of the chassis number from when the revised part was fitted?

Noting that will be a built date, not a registration date... my car was built in Nov '22 but not registered until Jan '23...

How do you know the build date? Is it on the car somewhere?

TX.

I think build week is on last page of service book. Mine was built last week of Nov 2022 and first reg'd March 2023.

Yes, I was referring to build date.

Yes, a sticker, usually found on the last page of one of the little booklets and has key and security details on it, but does sound like it isn't always there as some users have been unable to locate it.

The manufacture date is stated on the certificate of conformity. Mine is a September 2022 registered car (72 plate) and the certificate shows a manufacture date of April 2022. So it will be subject to the recall, however I had fuel pump failure at the start of this month, so I hope the recall fix is what has already been done to my car.

I was, registration date is completely irrelevant

So you know of a fuel pump fail on a car built post May ‘22?

Well, thats me just received an official email about a recall (I've had no issues).

"Dear Alpine Owner

We have identified a possible fuel pump dysfunction in hot weather conditions on A110 produced before May 2022. In rare cases this dysfunction might lead, in particular, to a possible inability to start the engine or to a loss of speed.

The root cause has been confirmed and Alpine will contact you in the coming months, and invite you to book an appointment with the Alpine Network to carry out the replacement of the fuel pump.

The Alpine Call Centre remains available as normal.

Be assured that your satisfaction is our priority.
Kind Regards"

I guess I wait for the lucky call!

Fantastic news! Hopefully they can do the majority of them over the colder months which should mean fewer failures.

I have received the email too - so that suggests that the recall applies to PE cars too.

If anyone can find out what that 'root cause' is, it would be interesting to know. Obviously we can guess that it is a build up of heat, but other cars get hot too, and dealing with heat is a pretty fundamental design excessive these days ...... you would think?

The only thing I have seen stated is that is a clearance issue on the impeller and is heat related. Simple enough to fix you might think. While that seems plausible the fact they have (sic) now found the root cause after a number of attempts suggest that other factors may be at play.

It will almost certainly have been fitted with the new part.

Yes I know it will have the new pump. Just wondered if potentially anything else is required.
This is what was done to mine a few weeks ago.

The pre-recall process would have involved seeing if the post May '22 solution was effective long term, so I don't think there would be any new additions to the repair.

The only part missing from your screenshot is you would also have had the injection reprogramming carried out with the new pump.
