Discounted stock Emiras...

But if you want to sell outright to a dealer, what are they paying? Loads of Lotus dealers already have enough new Emira that they don’t want to buy any in. Silverstone and other Lotus dealers love a bit of sale or return, as they carry no risk selling a car under warranty anyway, and just take a profit.
But if you ‘need’ to sell, who is buying and at what price?
If these are buyable under £70k, with minimal miles, and we know they are, then what does a dealer want to buy one in at?
Surely it MUST start with a 5?
What dealer will outlay £60k to make, maybe a £6-7k profit?
It’s nonsense.
I suspect the very few dealers who will bid at all, are offering late £50’s at best.
If you sell through someone like Premier GT, they'll charge you £5k for sale or return. But if you ‘need’ to sell, who is buying and at what price?

So selling at £65k on SOR only nets you £60k, so selling outright to a dealer I'd expect you'd not see any more than £55k.

Lots of Emiras are sat with none specialists who don't understand the market. You can see how many of them have got stuck with them for in some cases a year. I would be ok with high 50s I think it depends on the car. I think on here everyone thinks they only sell when they drop to 65 but it's clearly not the case. Some of the cars must be selling at much higher prices than the bottom of the market cars and the ones at main dealers for 90 won't be going for any less than 85 maybe wrapped up in a beefed up PX figure but still about that number worst case.
There's a similar vein on the Porsche thread where Porsche has some excess stock before Christmas people simply didn't believe anyone was buying but the numbers available on the Porsche website had nearly halved. People do buy cars and there are plenty of people still perfectly able to afford to do so. By my fag packet calculation there might be 40 to 50 Emiras that have sold since the beginning of the year just based on the reduction in numbers that was evident at the end of January and the Numbers for sale now.

What’s the price to sell privately?
You agree that dealers will be seeking to buy in at late £50s ?
I’ll pay late £50’s for one as well. So will many others. But what can a private seller expect to realise in a private sale? I don’t think it’s £70
Same posters on here who seem to want to talk down values on the Emira who pop up too on other parts of the forum talking down values of other brands. Yawn.
I'm more inclined to take note of what 'fridaypassion' has to say since he has been trading Lotus for years.
I'm a happy owner, not selling so not interested in current values, just enjoying what is a great car. Don't regret my purchase one bit, life's too short.

Indeed. The audacity of anyone taking about the value of Emira’s in trade or private sales, on a thread titled ‘discounted stock Emira’s’ Whatever next. I'm more inclined to take note of what 'fridaypassion' has to say since he has been trading Lotus for years.

Wonder why a ‘happy owner with no intention of selling or current values’ is going on such a thread.

Depends on the car spec/mileage The right car could sell for 70 private yeah why not? It is hard to sell cars at this price point privately of course. Theres a bit more of a culture of it with other cars like Porsche but not so much with a lot of others including Lotus. Private selling generally is dead with the likes of motorway etc theres no real benefit any more. What’s the price to sell privately?

Mostly agree with that. The remaining advantage of selling privately should be that you get more than you would selling to Motorway or the trade, as they have to build in a profit margin to what they pay.
The difficulty, as a private buyer now, is, as you say, many people don’t want to pay for an advert, deal with viewings and potentially have their time wasted, if there is an option to sell painlessly for a bit less, many seem to be taking it.
I suppose the variable is, how much more can you make selling private vs a trade sale, factoring in how much time you want to put into it, and how quickly you need the money.
Different for everyone and likely different for every car.
I wonder whether the £70k plus Emira’s that are advertised privately actually sell, or whether the owners just give up and either keep or SOR?
I know one guy, with a nice car advertised at £65k, took £63 in a private sale November last year.

This is where PH comes into its own. Lots of input above from a marque specialist in the trade.
A V6 Emira is on my bucket list. I'd want one with a long manufacturer warranty, by the end of which hopefully the teething problems would have been sorted.
In theory cars currently for sale should start selling en masse in the spring. Speculators should have swallowed their pride by now and the market will determine the cars value.
I fear Geely is simply using the Emira to promote the Lotus brand and that it will be dead as soon as the saloon and SUV are established. In the longer term this might help prop up Emira values, due to them being the last proper Lotus sports car.

They are def slowly rising based on WBAC/Motorway/Carwow, less about the absolute number but direction is up. So confidence is returning and/or spring is in the air.
This could be driven by people who had deposits on a unicorn i4 and/or were (still) thinking they'd get a new car for £65k...This may be of interest an Emira with a quite uninspiring black/caramel colour combo sold on motorway for 64k with fees so it looks like the hopes for 65k retail may have to wait until next winter.
Cheapest on AT is now £68500 only 65 cars on there with not very many new/delivery miles ones. Could it be that the cancelled order stockpile has been reduced under our noses...in winter?
I think I would be quite keen to buy one now I did bid on the black on on motorway but would probably prefer to chance it with a more eye-catching colour until we really get to grips with them.
I sense this year may see the first special edition of the run out V6 ones!

Of the original colours it appears black is the most unloved for some strange reason.
That might be because its actually not black but a very dark green. No black in the First Edition pallette.Shadow Grey is as near black metallic as possible it was my second choice after Seneca I specced on mine.

Some would argue that it's not a "Proper" Lotus sports car, and that the last ones of those were the Exige/Elises.A V6 Emira is on my bucket list. I'd want one with a long manufacturer warranty, by the end of which hopefully the teething problems would have been sorted.
