I really appreciate all your imput guys, it has been a fun and intense two and half months, with three partners, so I can take credit for the design and part of the work.

We had fun doing it together as a team , even if I had to travel often by car or train to Bologna, were the threewheeler was built.

I already know a few things I will be changing in the coming weeks and if there is a demand, I'm sure it will make production, as a kit or turnkey.

Looking forward to other projects.........maybe a bigger threwheeler......or a track car, or a 4x4, or a coupe.......whatever comes by......smile

Also not sure about the chassis area around the shoulders. This may be just the angle of the photo.

T
The new chassis is different on the shoulders.......but we were to far ahead to weld the other, and decided to stick with the first one.......

We hope to have a final version by the end of June........or that is the plan....smile

That's great.

If you can get it past UK type approval/SVA I'll have one. Be better with car-type tyres rather than motorbike ones.
I looking forward to meet the type approval in the UK/IVA......and I agree with you, that maybe car types will have more of a liking for it.....

Sadly the more I look at this electrickery for a motive force the more I am inclined to just graft the back off a scooter onto the trike.

It might not be green, but at probably a fifth of the cost to the build it is a long time before that impacts the RoI.
I totally agree with you......anf if you want to go green, they've just started doing LPG conversions on scooters.......smile

All this is making me impatient to get ours finished now too!!!! It's quite a bit different to yours Italo but that's no bad thing. Hopefully we'll do as good a job as you've done on yours, you deserve a pat on the back for having the balls to give it a go. Hopefully you've had as much fun as we been having here.
I've actually been criticized in Italy for going forward with this project..........but I usually don't give a flying fig about what other people think about me, so went ahead anyway.........I had fun and enjoyed the ride and that was the most important part of the project........

I now have another project to finish, hopefully by July I can show you all something different ........smile

I will eagerly wait for your threewheeler to be shown here......smile

Good for you!!!! beer

As soon as we're happy with our Trike I'll post pics up here for sure. As I've said before the first one already has a customer who likes how it's developing so far very much. We'll do some different styling to it later on much the same way as you've got a Mk2 of your trike too.

It's great fun doing these machines and having this thread with everyone's input to encourage things along.

Sorry for this but.....

Checks watch, checks calendar, taps foot, checks watch. wink

I was referring to the tyres on it earlier, not the type of people likely to buy, although the steering wheel is the way to go, IMHO.

You think so? I am seriously trying to work out if I can get away with a minimal pedal arrangement, with just a bike gear shift (for the hands) and a footbrake.

On the green issue, im not after an electric version for planet saving puposes, I am interested in one because they can be very cheap to run, given the correct batteries, controller and motor can be very quick and have loads of torque. In a small single seater you would'nt need to be able to go miles and the fun you could have on one charge would be great.

More I look at this, the more I like it.

Hope you don't mind but I had 5 minutes so did a quick and dirty photoshop of the rear end - I'm not sure the open rail look works with the rest of the design, so enclosed and smoothed it....

By the way... a further thought if I may Italo,

The lights - if you increased the size of the mirrors, you could house the lights in the front of them...

I definitely think the steering wheel is the way to go, especially if you want to sell them. Call me if you like, but as soon as you put handlebars on anything enclosed with three or more wheels and unfortunately it will be called a cripple car or suchlike, however undeserving it is. Sequential gearshift, however, is viewed generally as sporty, so "cool". The number of pedals doesn't matter at all.

Woah! That's pretty good, and I like the idea of the mirrors in the light pod, just wonder how awkward it would be to adjust them?

This is getting better by the hour.

If the Scorpion is anything to go by, you will need to mount the indicators in the rear of the pods either side of the seat, something to do with the 2000 revision of the SVA meaning the indicators/sidelights showing to the rear had to be within a certain distance of the maximum width of the vehicle and the rear of the vehicle. If you'd like to PM me, Italo, I'll send you some photos of my Scorpion, which has both the old and new back ends on it, the only one that does.

Lights in the mirrors is not a bad idea, but will they be OK for IVA?,I think not.
Re the restyling of an unfinished project, give poor old Italo a chance guys,I really don't think he needs any pointers about aesthetics judging by his prodigious portfolio of designs.

He has already said that he will be sorting the roll over bar and the rear cowling etc;out after the show,he was unable to get this to his satisfaction due to a third party contractor letting the team down. Unlike most of us who sit and criticise others designs(and I include myself in this category) Italo has actually MADE one of his excellent renderings come to life, its all very well being a whiz on Photoshop/3D CAD but when it comes down to it actually making a concept come to life is where it's at!

Sorry if this appears a bit of a rant,it's not meant to be,I think that this thread is amazing ,the way it has evolved and stimulated people to contribute their own ideas and thoughts is inspiring,so much so that I'm now off to the woods with my off-road Zimmer to gather some wood to raise steam on my old drawing board and put my money where my mouth is!

+1, but I think much of the comments are spawned by frustration that the design isn't finished NOW. We don't want to wait, we want to see the finished result in all it's glory NOW, not later! biggrin

<inpatience_mode=off>

I think that it will be great, and way beyond anything I am capable of.
