Something that effects us all:

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to
purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.
The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC,
the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery
driver.
A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in
one month.
On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will
know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been
going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a
NIP with your monthly bill.
If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car
driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website

I've put my name down - how are we meant to survive when over 50% of income goes into funding their whims! furious

I really can't see them imposing this on us if they want to stay in power.

Surely the real answer to this is in civil disobedience, just refuse to buy or fit the box, and drive without, then refuse to pay the fines, they cant lock us all up

If you have a mobile they can already track you! its breaching our human rights that stops this happening.

Slowly though our human rights are being removed, we must already have a picture ID to drive... along with us paying massive tax's on fuel and then again yearly just to use the car on the road (exactly what is fuel tax then?).

I wonder if they will improve th public transport before they tax cars out of reach of most households?

Unfortunatly I think its the lack of any real action by the people that leads them to the conclusion that they can get away with it.

Even if all the car enthusiasts dug in and resisted, the rest of the population (the majority) would not, and there it ends.

Imagine if motor manufacturers get on board with this and start to include this technology in the vehicles standard electrics, stuffed.......

Tracking would be a very easy addition to a Sat Nav system.

Maybe we won't have keys for our cars soon, instead you'll just insert your credit card!

Yep.

And a cottage industry will thrive on removing/disabling/limiting the technology.

Just like "Mileage Corrections" and "Dashboard Recalibrations"
