I am in the process of removing the engine from my Vindicator Sprint. It is a standard 2L Pinto, with a 4 speed gearbox. The reasons I am removing it are a) the clutch is knackered so it has to come out anyway, and b) I have a more powerful replacement, with a 5 speed gearbox, to go in.

So, if anybody wants a perfectly OK 2L Pinto, complete with 4 speed gearbox, but with a knackered clutch, then you can have it, FREE OF CHARGE, if you can collect it from morecambe. I have nowhere to store it, I haven't got time to try and sell it, and it seems a shame to scrap it.

Email me, or leave a response on here. I'm hoping that someone may be in the process of building a kit and looking for a cheap(free) engine.

If you don't get a response on here, try www.freecycle.org, there SHOULD be a group in your area.

I'd be tempted myself since a pinto is easily modified compared to the renault engine i've got in my kit car.

But you are quite a distance from me. Nice of you to offer it to us PH'ers though.

It might be worth selling it on Ebay as a no reserve/must be collected auction. I'm sure you'll get a few hundred quid once a couple of buyers start outbidding eachother. If you don't have an account, PM me and I will advertise it on your behalf. All i'd need is a few pics of the engine and an HONEST description (I have 100% positive feedback that I want to keep). You could sell it at a buy it now price of £100. It's better than nothing.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Regards

Gary

I might try Ebay, I have an account, 98% plus positive, just the timing might be a problem as I have nowhere to store it, except outside, (no room in garage as thats full of car and crap from a past house move).

I would be intersted in the gearbox, depending on what type of box it is??

Is it a Type 9, or other?

Type 9 was a 5 speed, surely?

Have you tried offering it on the Locost Forum? Much more active than the PistonHeads Kit Car forum and I'd have thought there'd be plenty of people on there who would be interested...
