New MEV Exocet Kit car
Discussion
The more I look at the kit and the more I think it makes a lot of sense as a single donor sports kitcar.
You have a fantastic and sweet handling mk1/2 Mx5 platform, you then add the exo-chassis with some bodywork and you've shed at least 500kg from the original.........what you have left is an impressive and light kit sportscar with one of the most entartaining chassis around....
The price of the kit is very competitive and used donors are plenty and available at incredibile prices....what would you want more ?
it would be nice to see in the future a comparative test between a Seven with an Mx5 engine option and the MEV Exocet...I would like to see the results.

Stiggy, those new lights are very funky looking , the whole car is a great use of an MX5. I've been busy photoshopping away and come up with this for the red with carbon stripe idea. Personally I think it looks great, and a lot better than the blue/orange (no offence meant , I just thought that colour scheme was a bit.. challenging. )
Great job....., how about a silver/chrome body with a metallic red stripe running through the middle of the body.Metallic red wheels would top my list....

Anyone know why Mazda chose to have a framework linking the engine and rear axle?

Page 100:
The transmission and differential gear casing were connected by an aluminiom powerplat frame(PPF) toform a highly rigid , single drivetrain. This drivetrain system reduced the wind-up effect, vibration caused by resonance of rear suspension and differential gear case, rear suspension pitching and power trasmission time lag, that were all common in traditional FR cars.
The PPF eliminated the phase lag in handling and stability and improved handling.
Page 107:
Adoption of the PPF was to further enhance the basic performance of the car. The PPF stops the relative movement (wind-up) of individual components as torque is transmitted through the powertrain from transmission to differential and gives direct throttle response for the driver.
PPF Structure
When a car accelerates a reaction force from wheel torque tries to turn the differential case in the opposite direction to the wheel, raising the front of the casing. Only after all possiblie movement is taken up is the traction fully transmitted to the ground: this movement causes a small time lag between application of the throttle and the start of the acceleration..............
The explanation continues for 5 pages..... but I'm sure this brief explanation was enough to understand why......

24 Exocet kits going out b4 xmas, orders now being taken for Jan 31st collection. Exocet is regrettably only available to the U.K as demand is very high and we cater for the U.K as a priority.
Stuart this is great news....... this concept makes a lot of sense.Looking forward to a drive in the future....
