Good work Klaus, I guess the times are better now since they use old TVR's also for classic racing etc?
nice to see so many of those special old TVR's also sad to see them in such state
but then it cost a small fortune to make like new or better then new, more rigid etc.
I like Trevors basic idea of this car with the VW axle, and I like thinking about and planning improvements. nice to see so many of those special old TVR's also sad to see them in such state

Klaus, I am not good at remembering names but, did I meet you at the Munich TVR meeting in May or June. I was that English person. Ich verstehe nicht. Ich spreche kien Deutsch. Do you do classic hillclimbing too or am I confusing you with another gentleman.
Excuse my poor memory. Ant.

Hi,
Glad to put the photo's up. Im afraid i dont know where or when they were taken, i only have these 2 shots of the car. I have a large collection of photo's from the sixties of old TVRs granturas Griffs etc ive been collecting them for years, i buy a lot from Ferret Fotographics, he always digs out new ones for me from his massive collection of negatives.
If your car had a Bristol engine was it from new, in which case what is the middle part of the Ch/ No, 7/f/ 7/b or 7/c is normal or 7/Fs as with Cantus Mk1.
By the way i own MK2a 7/b/296, hence my interest in Granturas
Yes the Bristol engine was in it from new I've got the first tax book of the car. The ch/No is 7/c the car is in a sorry state at the min And supporting a real bad orange paint job. I will be returning the car back to white. Glad to put the photo's up. Im afraid i dont know where or when they were taken, i only have these 2 shots of the car. Luckycarter, if I pm you the reg number of my series one, would you be able to take a look to see if, by any miracle, have an early photo of my car? I have no early history of the car and it would be really Nice to find an early photo.
Ok i will look if you pm me but i dont have too many Vixen S1 pics, i dont think too many raced (most of my pics are motorsport)THE AJP CHIMAERA said:

Bavaria has some great TVR (and classic car) enthusiasts who enjoy getting their cars out and playing with them. It's unfortunate that the Bavarian region and the UK are so far apart......or maybe lucky for you guys!

The last owner had the car form the mid 70s. It had been sitting in a garage untouched for the last five years or so. The car has been in ireland sence the late 60s.I see you are in N.I, is that where you came across the car?, it always fascinates me how these cars turn up, was it some ones who you knew or locked in a garage forgotten about for years ?

Peter Filby's book "The Early Years" shows on page 143 an autocrossing Grantura Mk3 (338 YTD?) driven bei John Akers, "Driver and car went to become extremely successful at the sport". Maybe this helps to find more details about your car?
Regarding your chassis no, here are some known details:
7/ = all Granturas from Mk 1 - Mk 2a with VW torsion bars
C/ = climax engine, B/ = BMC (MGA) engine, F/ = Ford engine, FS/ = Ford supercharged engine
xxx = chassis no
However, there are some known irregularities, in particular if your car was first registered with that Bristol BS1 2.0ltr 6 cylinder 1950s race engine!
@Luckycarter
I am driving former OO 9507, a british racing green MK 2a Grantura, which was a winner of some concours events. Do you have any pics in your collection? That would be great!

The name of this guy is Downy

I have looked at my copy of early Years and Carl..If you think they are the same person you must have had far too much red wine. The pic doesn't look Like Bunty at all when compared with the book.K.W.
The guy in the picture is far more the size and build of Tommy Entwhistle but It doesn't look quite like him?
Mystery to solve!!
