Hi guys,

And is the dripping so bad that I must never look for a 3000S
Or can I find this serious defect reflecting in the low price???
My Triumph 250 dripped when raining but with hood down I just drove faster.
Hans
Afraid not Hans they are still the first and original production convertable that TVR ever built and anyone who has one will tell you still the best in so many ways and are loath to part with them.Back to the discussion or

Driving Faster when it rains is the best option IMOP

well just to refresh my first mail and to update what i have discovered on my 3000S.
In the end the engine was rebuilt with parts from Burton as follows:
1.Rebored 3,212 miles ago
2. fully balanced
3.line honed mains
4. valve seats recut 3 angles
5. Burton camshaft VA19 fitted
6. high pressure oil pump fitted
7. dgas carb retained
8.JP full stainless exhaust system
A few questions for the experts:
1.I Wonder with the Pirana electronic ignition what would be a good starting point for the advance.
2.What would be a good starting point for the Jets in the dgas carb, maybe a bigger main jet or look at plug colour
thanks Alan

Hi Alan,
The experts are apparently absent, so allow me to answer.....
I don't think the advance is governed by the Pirahna, or any other elec ingition for that matter. what does is the cam. The VA19 is iirc a rather wild one ?
I would start with a 'standard' advance of 14° and see what happens....it probably is going to need more !
Settings of my carb are; idles: 55, mains 150 airs; 200 (but try 185 first....standard)

thanks Frank,
i will check to see the advance i have at the moment on tickover because it seems to run well but this is my first Essex engine and i'm still Learning.
I'll check colour of plugs and also see what jets have been fittedin the dgas carb.
The thing is i'm a little in the dark because the owner that had the work done died 10 years ago. So i am finding some différences with what the owner's widow believes was done and the reality. The reciepts from Burton for engine machining, balancing, camshaft Burton VA19 1500-6000rpm lift .386" duration 292° are dated october 1999 speedo 71,976 miles. Now the speedo is 75,188miles so engine has done 3,212 since rebuid.
Just run in
