Just cancelled policy with A Flux,
any suggestions about insurance companies for a Taimar,
Are the Taimar and Taimar Turbo in the same insurance group?

Hi,

I don't know the about standard or turbo but with Aon Classic for the last 2 years it has cost me £131.40 full comp per year with full glass cover and allowed to go on track days. (Old git at 49 so might be the reason)

Footman James (pro-actively) found me a good deal recently, with the insurer 'Chaucer' - £105 ... agreed val, low miles, breakdown service, windscreen etc. for a 3000S

When I changed from a Taimar to a 3000S turbo 3 years ago my insurance did not got up dramatically, sorry but I can't remember the exact amounts. This is with Peart, A limited mileage classic policy shouldn't be affected too much by the performance.

I work for Aon and insure both my TVRs (Vixen and Wedge) with them. I don't think I get any "special" treatment but the premiums seem competitive. I would certainly recommend them.

Things to consider

-Agreed value, and the cost of a valuation on youf vehicle if a valuation is necessary. TVR club do not do them, insurance companies charge to do them e.g., £15. Not all policies are agreed value, or are for a higher premium. The more your car is worth the more the premium, but generally only if it goes over £5000
-Glass cover- often referred to as “windscreen” so worth checking out if it covers ALL glass, and what the excess is. Glass excess seems to be generally less than regular excess. Important for those rear windows. Also is there a max payout for glass in the policy???
-Excess- examples ranged from £300 to £50 so worth bearing in mind when making a decision
-Classic Policy’s are always Fully comp it seems
-With a limited mileage policy there is generally no refund if you cancel the policy (say if you sold the car)
-Limited mileage figures range up to 10,000 but are normally 3000 or 5000.
-NCB- some do some don’t. Classicline claim to be the only one which does
-For many companies drivers must be over 30 to qualify for classic car schemes
-Some include breakdown cover, and even European breakdown cover as standard

I'm with footman and have unlimited mileage with an agreed value and it includes European breakdown cover. £255 renewal this year, but that did cover a new bonnet, bonnet frame and respray after a small prang last year.

Our S Turbo is 300 quid fully comp with AON. 6 track days per year, 6000 mileage limitation and agreed value of 20K.

Again, an old git which may help.
