Original brass Vixen Radiator... any good?!?
Discussion
Building a 1.7 litre sprint Vix. Should be about 120 horsepower I hope.
Am i being daft trying to use the original brass (rare apparently: WONDER WHY!) rad, as I heard they were somewhat less useful than a kick in the teeth?
I would probably go for a Mk2 Golf rad, as it seems to work for Pete Sims (SYD).
Any ideas??
Ed.

Hi Ed,
I'm also looking at a replacement rad, Peter's conversion looks good in the car, ally core as well!
I'll throw a spanner in the works for you,,,,
I've come across the rover 600/Honda Prelude radiator. Although its not a crossflow rad like the Golf it is top down like the Vixen, the pipes appear to be in the same place and it even has a filler and cap on the top just like the Vixen's.
I havent measured up so dont quote me on this one, but it may be worth a look at (check them out on ebay to get dimensions and an idea of price approx £45).
The last time I had the original radiator re-cored it was about £80, so for the sake of having something more reliable and more cost effective,, it makes sense!
