Does anyone know if the driver was ok after the awful crash at Thruxton in the GT Cup today?

I suggest until we know something factual that nothing is posted.

If you don't know the facts please DON'T speculate.

and for the record the 2nd gt cup race was cancelled along with most the afternoon events due to time difficulties as the delay was caused by no doctor being at circuit as he was with the driver, the accident investigation, and many gt cup drivers being shocked by the aftermath!!!
those series cancelled had ran one race today and believe those that did run after lunch had not

All my best thoughts and wishes go to the driver, his family, team and the marshals and medics who worked so hard to make sure he stands the very best chance of being back at a circuit soon

All our thoughts are with Jeff and his family, his team and the folk at Thruxton and the GT Cup team.

I knew of the guys condition as of last night but as i don't know Jeff, i'm not sure what the latest is. I just hope he is ok and makes a full recovery, so my best wishes to him and his family.

We decided to pack up and go for the second race. Yes, we are aware of the risks, but my personal opinion is that it is disrespectful to just carry on as normal. I'm sorry paying spectators got such a poor show though if it's true that the afternoon was cancelled.

Racing resumed at 4.30 (ceased at 12.40). Police were in attendance, indicating severity of the accident. I hope the driver is OK.

When racing resumed almost everyone got one race. Some who were scheduled for two had their races cut to one.

Thanks Big Al

I was competing in the GT Cup race yesterday and Croft today.... when I arrived at Croft there were some pretty innacurate rumours getting conveyed as fact by people that really should know better.

If you look at the PBMWC website the BARC rescue chief has posted to say the driver is still unconcious in ITU at Salisbury district hospital.

Which proves why there shouldn't be speculation until the facts are released officially.

Quite.

I was racing there on Saturday and must admit that even after some very serious accidents I have never seen the police investigate, so naturally assumed the worst when they arrived. I would be interest to know why they did investigate if it wasn't fatal.

Obviously my thoughts go out to the driver and his family.

The Police will still investigate if there is a chance of it becoming a fatal, let's hope the driver is able to make a good recovery, i'm not quite sure why they ran any races at all as alot of people packed up and went home anyway.

The Police attended the scene because the car left the circuit therefore it was classed as a road traffic accident.

The following is an update from the GT Cup website:

"On Saturday May 8th at Thruxton Circuit during the GT Cup Championship race Jeff Leadley was involved in a serious accident at Club Corner. The emergency services were on the scene immediately and Jeff was taken to Salisbury Hospital by ambulance. He is currently in intensive care. The thoughts of the staff at Bute Motorsport are with Jeff, his wife and family and FF Corse and their drivers. When we have any further information a statement will appear on the GT Cup website."

That cant be the case or they would be at Croft every other weekend given the amount of cars that end up in the surrounding field.

I was told this by a senior police officer, just relaying the information.
