maybee you should all thinkabout ditching BGT and going with Britcar.... (ducks for cover!)

I did, for similar reasons to those voiced by the TVR boy's, 996 cup cars start with 405bhp at the flywheel, weigh in at circa 1150klgs and amazingly only have 320bhp at the rear wheels, Why, simple, one small insignificant BMW team of little or no importance, paying the same race fees as everyone else mind you, and God knows how many P996's and F360's etc cup cars, get real folks , who would you want to keep happy, it's the P/F challenge.

Anyway, that's in the past, for we have just had the best weekends racing since the TVR Tuscan Challenge died, on second thoughts, we've just had the best weekends racing full stop.

In Britcar, despite being 5/6 sec a lap slower then the fastest cars in class 3 we managed a podium first time out, Third in class, through a combination of consistent lap times, fast changeovers, a good prep team, reliability and about 99% luck

Here's another interesting thing, what do you get when 99% of the cars in a EERC race are owned by those driving,???? careful and respectful drivers for starters, which is rather refreshing to say the least.

this is one of the reasons I am running in Britcar, and long may it stay this way, I for one cannot stand (or afford) to be in some pannel bashing formular with prople that think they are the next F1 driver!

[quote=lnt]Hi

just to be clear about a few things with regard to team LNT.

The cars were not the loudest on track

They were noise tested (statically) at 106 - well below the limit.

The exhaust exits on the LH side of the car and the noise meter on track therefore penalises the TVRs unfairly as they are not creating any more noise than other cars at the track.

noise levels from the pit wall showed we were quieter than other cars (fact)

after qualifying session one we had a problem with the #42 car and it did fail a static test (exhaust damage)this was rectified

as the noise meter is closer to our exhaust than any other car we felt we would be black flagged in the race and could see no point continuing.

our withdrawal from the BGT is due to a number of technical issues not being checked on other cars and various decision which have been incorrect according to the rules

we have developed cars that can beat the Ferraris and Porsches and we will find a more level playing field to prove this

there is no point distracting our effort in a series that currently does not enforce the rules fairly, someone has to make a stand

i would like to apologise to any TVR fans who made the effort to come to combe. i asked the commentator to announce the withdrawal of the cars as soon as possible and had this posted on daily sportscar.

we will continue to win with TVR

A most disappointing weekend, only went down to support TVR and especially Patrick as he is our local lad, keep the good work up LNT, you were certainly missed

We also went to support TVR and although disapointed to see them only in qualifying, after speaking to the team understand their decision.
Good luck to LNT in the LMES series and hopefully their efforts will lead to an invite to enter Le Mans 2006

It is a sad day indeed to see another marque leaving the series. Seems odd that sponsors are so keen to get on yet another 911 when surely having something unusual, an Ultima, Morgan, Marcos... is going to get you more coverage for anything other than a win. I've taken a vast amount of GT pics, this year and last, and there are still Porsches in the series of which I would have trouble finding a single photo. And those that I do have are either the top runners, ones with particularly fetching paint jobs, ones crashing or Embassy grid shots . Plenty of pics of the other marques here tho!

Lawrence,
Extemely disappointing not only for Castle Combe but the rest of the season.
We go to as many UK GT races as possible and have been to Donington, Castle Combe and are booked up for both Silverstone races (couldn't do Thruxton as the buggers moved the date and we had booked our holiday). We had had a particulalrly torrid time with family health problems and were looking forward to cheering you on. We didn't get there until around 2.30 on Saturday so only saw the team packing away.
Can't believe the T400's were louder than say the Morgan or even the Marcos???
Won't be the same without the TVR's so looks like Ferrari have it in the bag.
Good luck for the raminder of the season in whatever you decide to do.

I couldn't agree more! The Saturday race featured lots of Ferraris and Porsches plus one each of Mosler, Marcos and Nissan (19 cars in total).

By contrast, last year the Saturday race featured:
* 3 x Corvette C5
* 3 x Ferrari 360
* 1 x Holden Monaro
* 2 x Lotus Elise
* 1 x Marcos Mantis
* 1 x Morgan Aero 8
* 1 x Mosler
* 1 x Noble M12 GTO3
* 7 x Porsche GT3
* 1 x TVR T400
* 1 x Ultima
* 1 x VX220

That's 23 cars from 12 marques compared to just 5 this year (although there was a greater variety of Porche models this year).

well i think i'll just support team LNT on an international level now, i will definately be going to the LMES race at silverstone as you get prototypes and LMP's aswell. british GT is just getting to the point that it should be called the porsche ferrari challenge and that makes me sad as looking what it used to be it was a great series (listers, saleens, speed 12's, T400's, porka GT2's, marcos LM600, F40's the list goes on.)

what i will keep doing though is going to as many castle combe meetings as possible as it is an absolutely wonderful circuit and i will go to any meeting even if it was reliant three wheelers

oh yes and ive read that it looks like the morgan could be going to britcar too. so the variety will be just the mosler and marcos

I saw that report on the Morgan looking at Britcar, seems that they are looking at options for 2006, they weren't happy with a number of things in GT including the Dunlop issue. If they do one race in Britcar they will be hooked, I wish them the best as long as they are not in class 3

Looking at the Morgan Vs the Z3, the Morgan would be put in Class 2, IMHO. But then, I could be totally, totally wrong on that!

if you actually follow the classes, GT cuo class cars should be in britcar class 1, problem with this is the number of very fast cars in class 1...

class 2 would seem a fairer place to my mind (where I am)...

It's very different in Britcar thank God. In Britcar, if your combination of lap times and reliability stands head and shoulders above others in your class, you get "promoted" with the footnote of " Try thoseon for size"

If the Morgan comes to Britcar, my guess is that they will put it in class 2 for starters as it will still be running restrictors from the GT series, thereafter it's got the potential to run in class 1, it can be a very very quick car, nice chaps as well.

Just seen another report on DSC that the Cadena GTC Mosler is now looking at Britcar, soon the SRO style of British GT will be just Porsches and ferrari's,but look on the bright side, provided you run one of these cars and have a massive budget you could soon be looking at a level playing field

Paul Whight and Gavan Kershaw will race the team's Mosler MT900R in the Britcar race on july the 16th at Snetterton

"This will be the first Britcar outing for the team with the brand new Mosler, and we are very pleased to be associated with James Tucker's excellent Britcar series,” says Paul Whight. “It really is going from strength to strength and is now regarded as very much an alternative to the British GT Championship.”

Who goes and buys a house next to a racetrack then complains about the noise?

It's like the people who live near airports for the convenient transport links, then moan about the planes flying overhead!

The same bloody idiots who managed to get a noise nusance order issued on castle combe!

So that's why the TVR failed to noise test no matter what the team say the meter said something different combe has enough problems with noise issue's with the court case pending on the 20/21st of July the circuit could not take any chances LNT should have taken it in the chin in the circumstances and as Nathan Kinch said "just get on with it"!!!!!
