I had the good fortune to be there all weekend courtesy of Mercedes AMG. The qually time was a 41.1 with the whole field only separated by 0.6 sec! Unbelievable the speed they are able to carry through Paddock Hill and then they are flat for the left hand kink (Clarke curve or Surtees not sure what it's called) just before Clearways - Not even a lift. I would absolutely love a go in one of those incredible machines.

How early on the gas at Druids!

How little braking at paddock!

Epic indeed Incidentally, all the Ex-F1 drivers complain how little grip they have in DTM biggrin

I went or a track day as a passenger with a friend around here the other week in a Audi TT, and that felt pretty quick. This just looks amazing. Think I'll point him to this link for reference! wink

The AMG engineer who showed me around the car said that the parts alone cost Eur 1 million! Apart from the build costs, dread to think what the wind tunnel costs would be. rotate

Just watched again.

I don't understand the physics of this at all.

Simple engine revs up like a bikes engine, suspension will react thousand of times a second, and breaks that pull your eyes out of your sockets, and drivers that race at that level all the time

I expect a lot of that grip is down to properly engineered aero and an extremely stiff car to minimise movement of the car's mass under lat or long acceleration.
