I'm racing on monday and i thought i would tap into the vast experience you lot have of wet races.I have a new set of wets that i will be using in the afternoon furious what cold / hot presures did the guys using 250 640 18's think gave grip.I have only raced once in three years in the pouring rain and that was on list 1b tyres not wets,so any help or advise please especially from the A+ cars

Do you really think I'm going to divulge the details that have taken me a lot of time, effort and money testing to someone else whom I may be racing against in such conditions in future . . . scratchchin & even if I do, how will he know they're right with a different car, more power, weight, balance, suspension & settings, aero and fuel load, air & track temps blah blah etc etc. Good luck Perry - no offence personally matey biggrin

. . . but you may wish to consider whether tyres in the wet will generate the same temperatures that they do in the dry at similar pressures and so adjust upwards accordingly winkbiggrin

hi Keith,

LOL, i only asked as Graham seamed to think we all share info.Mind you if the shoe was on the other foot i'd gladly tell you as i don't care who knows my settings,as you say i will never be racing against you as i,m in A+ or B.I will do as i always do in these situations start at 21.5psi and go up if i qually any less than class pole again .biggrin

must just be the way you ask chap :-)

I cant remember what we set ours to its in the book the old chaps got..

as to general advice, you'll find full wets give amazing grip compared to a set of list 1 b tyres, or even std road tyres.

It seams as though tyre presures could be the least of my issues,as this was my cars fueling system half hour ago,........

If it's cold as well as wet, Perry, 25 - 26 psi all round from the start, as the tyres wont heat up much and the less they flex the easier the water drains. The late great Gerry Marshall told me that in 1991 and I don't think much has changed.

What Martin said ,25-26 when cold and wet.
So we dont forget, we've had the pressures written on the sidewalls of the wets ,for years hehe.

Many thanx chaps thats what i was after a good starting point then tune to my taste.beer on it's way.I will drop one side of the roll bar just for good measure as usual.

Andy i have had that responce twice in two months, thats what me and graham were talking about the other week,Graham and mark Hocin shared data logger stuff while fighting for the championship against each other club racing i love it.G has the same opinion as you ( it's not F1 ).I on the other hand think it must be the way i ask for some advice.oh well it all turned out ok in the end,now back to the fuel system i have that resembles the sahara desert only with iron filings. rolleyes

we set the wets at 24 cold they come up to 26 during the race which is where we want them
we also drop the roll bar 1 hole on each side
the brake bias goes 10 clicke to the rear
we drop the shocks of 10 clicks all round
if you rearly want to get serious and can be sure that the rain is going to continue
drop some camber off (dont forget to adjust the front tracking )

and we do all this in the collection area at croft laying in big puddles in torrential rain and then they call the race off

I would just say Terry/Tim...

That's a Tuscan wet set up (a car thats built to, and is faster when moving around, to get weight transfer).

Your Sag is now a full aero car with flat floor, wing and diff.
Surely you dont want that moving around now?
You should be maintaining your aero position???

You were certainly kicking up some rooster tails on the back straight at Sstone. biggrin
