Ok then Guys I know its a fair way off but is anyone interested in me organizing a pre season test day / weekend for next season, probably late feb early march.

My preference would be for somewhere like Anglesy as its a good circuit with plenty of cheap hotels near by, and we've done it before there.. but Im open to suggestions.

Cheers

Good call G but I'll probably just stick with the odd track day at Oulton or the morning testing at Mallory.

I would be. Although not sure about the 6 hour drive to anglesey!!

Silverstone would be more central, or even Cadwell, Oulton etc.

Angelsey is usually fairly cheap and open at that time of the year, and they do weekend trackdays too, so you can get down on the friday night and test sat and sun with a bit of a meal or something on the sat night at a hotel... But it is a bit of a trek.

at silverstone you either get the national which is crap or the gp which is expensive, cadwell has a bit too much scenery for early testing... Oulton is a possibility though..

Now you're talking!

Seriously though, depending whether the car is anywhere near running by then, I'd of course be interested... I suspect I'll need a lot of testing, preferably with someone who can show me the ropes as well!

Going to be doing the academy again with Cainey this winter.

Already got 8 days worth of bookings. Mainly based at BHI, but if Donnie or somewhere unusual pops up in the calendar we'll add that.

JR said he'd be cutting a venue out next year. My bet would be Angleset dropped - but Cadwell would be a better choice to lose (or move).

But I'll have no say ofcourse! biggrin

I'd love to do a session with Mr Caine... Is there a chance of arranging some tuition when my car's ready (no idea when that'll be yet)

Am intrigued by Andy's comment that JR said "he would be cutting a circuit out next year" - why, where, when?!? At my level, ultimately it's down to the drivers who have to tow their own trailers or haul a slow race truck to these venues, so it would be nice to be involved in the thought processes here! For example at least 3 of us drove through the night to get to Oulton for 7.30 last Saturday!
Anywhere with good motorway or at least dual carriageway access is a goer for me - on which basis both Angelsey and Cadwell are borderline. I did not attend Angelsey this year due to working that weekend, but frankly I was relieved. The only way I would go there next year is if I could afford to take a long weekend off - Thu to Mon inclusive! I am not surprised that Angelsey struggled for entrants, despite the positive drivers' opinions of the location and the circuit.

Ref the circuits I think the format of 7 double headers was excellent, I think I'd like to see maybe 2 circuits fixed on the calendar say Brands( for the southerners) and Oulton ( last round so we can have a party) and then rotate the rest of the circuits, swapping 2 out every year.. although obviously when it comes down to the circuits we can get that does tend to depend on what the other bigger championships are doing...

Its always nice to run on different circuits as it throws something else into the mix.. I certainly wouldn't want to run on the same circuit twice in one year...

This year we missed out on

Croft
Pembrey
Knockhill
Thruxton
Donnington
Silverstone
Goodwood

I've been fortunate enough to race on every uk circuit other than Goodwood and there isnt one I'd not go back to.. Ok I wouldnt want to go to knockhill every year, and pembrey, well its in south wales so enough said... but I wouldnt want to never do them again..

Just my tuppence worth but a pre-season test day would be an excellent opportunity for some early publicity, both for the series and for the driver's sponsors.

What about thoughts for promoting the series better next year? If it's to continue growing it's got to keep attracting new blood. I do what I can with Sprint, the TV coverage this year was excellent and the website started well. What's going to happen next year? I'm open to ideas and will do what I can.

Hi Chris, I'm attempting to get something together for the website, speaking to JR this week about it. Ideally I'd like to get a proper theme across the TV, website and any Sprint coverage to give the whole thing a sort of brand image in order to try and make it all look a little more slick - which would hopefully help out with promotion and attracting sponsors.

I was chatting to George, Mal, Owen and JR at Oulton and there was a general consensus that everyone is happy to help out, its just a case of getting a plan together and having everyone commit to it. I'd like to get things in motion asap though so anything we do plan could be sorted in plenty of time for next season. I'll have a think and a chat to some people and get in touch as I'd like to do what I can to help out smile

Oh and Snetterton is a great idea. Bombhole is a cracking corner!
