How many GP's before Schumacher has one of his infamous incidents/bumps/breakdowns/black flags/junior mechanic put that bit on without permission moments? With LH,JB,FA,FM and SV will there be too much competition to handle?
ps we're not including hassling Nico Rosberg about his number etc as thats already started.

It's a balancing act isn't it. Do it too early and he risks making himself look like a bit of a doddering old clown covering up for the fact that he can't cut it any longer. Leave it too late and people will start to say he's lost his 'edge'. Politely saying he is no longer a ruthless bd basically!!
I reckon race four once his feet are back under the table properly and he is sticking his elbows out and snarling at everyone else waiting to feed off the carcass!

i'm sorry but piquet crashed on purpose too yet no one ever seems to throw this slander around quite like schumacher. lewis has lied on purpose yet this is somewhat forgotten on this thread. alonso sold his own team down the river over crashgate and there are countless more examples of f1 drivers demonstrating somewhat less than choirboy behaviour so the damnation of one M.Schumacher is frankly, very very boring now... and no, i dont think he is somehow above the law, he is as bad as the rest!
I think he'll be a good boy this time, but I also think he'll be an also-ran rather than a title contender, so he'll have nothing to gain by doing so.
I think first race, first corner, Hamilton is going to demonstrate that he will not give way - they'll both go out, but Schumacher will get the message.

Good to see not everyone is wearing their rose-tinted glasses with regards to the rest of the field.pablo said:

None of them deliberately endangered another competitor, none of them had had their little moment repeatedly throughout their career in repeated fashion, none of them had such a huge car/contract advantage that they had no need for such actions, none of them 'cheated' in a manner that reflects their inability to accept competing on the same level as everyone else - i.e. on the spur of the moment - all their actions were premeditated. It's only boring to those who can't justify his actions... for the rest of us, forever winding up an ignorant Schumi-glory hunter is immense fun. (NB: not aimed directly at you) It's even funnier down the pub.
btw, I voted that he will be a good boy this time. He'll need to be in the position to win a WDC to resort to on-track cheating, so if anything it's like to be at the last couple of races, as per history. But I don't think he'll be in that position, because he was never good enough to compete for a WDC in a high standard higly competitive era (such as 1991-1993), he can't 'as good' now he's older, I don't see the Brawn/Silver Arrows maintaining it's advantage from last season and along with one guy who was beating him in equal machinery towards the end of 2006, he also has to compete with a man he couldn't beat last time round - Alonso - and he also has to compete with a man Alonso couldn't beat...

fk me man get with the humour of the post!I doubt there are many Schumacher haters (myself included), who aren't drooling at his return because F1 has become just that little bit more dull without him and that Alpha Male character in the pitlane. Come on Alonso et al have tried to do the Alpha Male but only come off as whinging children. F1 needs him back and this sort of thread is the begrudging admittance of that. For me included!

An unforeseen aggrivation with his neck I expect...
One remembers Mansell's exploits at McLaren and hopes it doesn't become one of those, as I'd much rather Hamilton skin his rse a few times. Nico Rosberg even more so! But F1 dull without Schumi? Seems to have been somewhat better in the last 3 years than the previous 13 before that! F1 viewing figure increases would confirm this. In fact the only drop in viewers F1 has ever witnessed was during the height of Schumi's reign in 2000-2003 andhas seen year-on-year increases since 2005...
Nah, this is a chance to put the great F1 swindler to bed.

i agree with most of this but to me, that the piquet thing was premediated was even worse. he couldnt have known that it would not affect another driver and although htey did their best to reduce the risk, they couldnt remove it completely. Given the implications, i think he should have been banned for life from all motorsports.
i think the pre-mediated point is a good one, as someone hoping to (one day) write my phd on decision making analysis, reaction to events that lead to a person making a decision is quite interesting stuff, especially in a sporting context as my background is military. to be honest, its too early i nthe likes of hamilton and piquets career to say that it wont happen again, who can say?

I can see it now, him taking out Hamilton and Hamiltons dad storming down the pit lane having a go. Oh how times have changed.
Well thats the big difference between 'then' and 'now'. In the past it was always him and one other, however now we have at least five other drivers who could potentially win the WDC. Also in the boring old days the budget differences were massive, today its a much more level playing field. Look how narrow the gaps are now in qualifying compared to 10 years ago.I personally think he'll have a lot of hassle from the young guns this year, and unless he has a car advantage, he's going to get muscled and shoved from all angles.
It will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure. His guile and skill won't be worth much as he's been out of the game too long to play mind tricks now.
I reckon they'll treat him like FFord drivers used to treat Tiff Needell every time he tried to go out for a play.

Alpha male, refers to "the man"? The man to beat was vacated by Schumi and will be assumed by Hamilton, although that is still yet to be 'confirmed', as Alonso, Raikkonen and now Button have all been squabling over that status. Standard stuff when there is a sudden power vacuum. The arrival of Schumi will make no difference to this...
Yeah the man to beat. Whilst I didn't necessarily mean or think that Schumacher is going to automatically assume that role again he'll try and I think he'll be in for a little shock when he realises it's not his for the taking. Alonso has already beaten him and I think will happily stay out of the squabbles. The pressure is quietly on him and he doesn't need to be getting elbows out at the table with Schumacher and making a mess of it like he did in 2007.Button... I don't see him WANTING to engage in the savagery. It's just not him, but Hamilton... yeah I think you are right. He might be a baby faced corporate smile machine to the cameras but I reckon he has the ruthlessness in him to go for the Alpha Male role. And assume it to be honest. Maybe not in 2010, but 2011... yes. He is going to come out snarling and I can't wait to see it kick off!
i can see hamilton asserting himself against any swoopy moves in the braking zones/at 200mph to put other people on the grass made by Schumacher. He is obviously the most likely current driver to do that to Schuey... I guess Alonso doesn't need to prove a point... I don't know what Vettel/Webber/Rosberg/Massa would do. Hamilton is the most aggressive race of the current crop, so I think any conflict will be with him.
