Have you met Damon Hill?
No?
I have
Like his dad, a perfect gentleman, a real personality and someone who raises loads for charity.
I'd suggest you don't know him nor have met him, and therefore to 'shut up'.

And he's an F1 world champion as well.

The BBC's half arsed deal has left both channels with substandard coverage.

Sadly, for the first time in a long time I don't think I'll bother this year, it was such a pain trying to follow the season without a Sky subscription last year and I can't justify the money for one of those.
Nope...with Sky you get every session of every GP live (practice, quali, race). There are no adverts during quali or the race from about an hour before to an hour after.

Oh, I don't doubt the quantity of Sky's coverage for a second.

Same as last year, BBC pick first, BBC can't have three consecutive races live and Sky can't have three consecutive exclusive races. BBC chose Canada over Monaco. SSF1 remains on Virgin, and was supposed to be on NowTV & BTVision too last time I heard but I'm not really up to speed on it this year. You may find some details here:

Thanks, wonder why they did that. Ah well I might get round to reading that thread at some time!

I'll be watching the Sky coverage again this year. I switched from Virgin to Sky HD last year as I could get the F1 channel and loads more HD channels for a couple of quid cheaper than my Virgin XL package (which didn't have the Sky Sports pack).

If it ever becomes a requirement for existing Sky HD subscribers to take the full Sky Sports pack just to get F1 (like new subscribers have to do from 1st April) then I will have to consider my options.

I'll be watching again this year, once again on the BBC. I must admit I'm not AS excited for this season as I usually am but I'm still looking forward to it. I won't be switching to Sky. I've always said I wouldn't pay unless it ends up being ONLY available on Sky. I simply cannot justify paying the money for what is effectively 10 races a year.

No; its boring
No; its become a procession with lead changes only courtesy of fluffed put-stops
No; I can't stand Suzi Perry (and I know a few things about her to justify my comment)
No; there are hardly any personalities in F1 now; what happened to the Sennas, Prosts, Hills and Hunts?
No; why watch cars that all look alike, driven by drivers who all look and sound alike when I could go and stand on the inner ring road in Mansfield and watch the 'boy-racers' circulate round and round
No; because I refuse to pay Sky to watch it live
Other than that, yes; I may watch the highlights / lowlights...
I wouldn't waste your time, it's obviously not for you.

Personally, I don't find it boring, I personally think in terms of on-track action we're enjoying a golden era. In fact it seems to me you stopped watching a few years ago and haven't come back.
But this here golden era of on-track action you speak of is one that one that had to be artificially generated by the introduction of DRS because it had become about as exciting as watching traffic on a motorway that was down to one lane.
Even Montoya admitted as much when he cleared off to America.

And what other sport includes a session the day before to find out who is the fastest, and then give them a 200 yard head start over the slowest? Call that a race?!

Did Red Rum get given a head start in the National? Do Man Utd get an automatic goal lead at the start of every game, or Federer a couple of games towards the first set?

Let's be honest, yes the engineering in F1 cars is first class, but as a racing spectacle, all the real drama disappeared long ago with the introduction with overbearing regulations and snoozathon circuits in the middle east with superb grandstand architecture but tracks covered in sand.

The most cynical of all the 'race' locations is surely Monaco where the chances of seeing an actual overtaking manoeuvre are virtually zero. Take away the super-yahts, the hotels, tits and casinos and you're left with nothing more than a jumped up go-kart track on the side of a hill.

Its a shame, but if you want to see real edge of your seat death defying proper racing these days, you have to follow Superbikes.

I can't wait for the season to begin (not long now). Going to be really good season this year 5 drivers going for the WDC (possibly even 6 with the pace Massa is showing). Also 5 teams fighting for the WCC.

Luckily I got sky sports and the coverage is brilliant. But one thing Sky doesn't have is Eddie Jordan. He is a absolute legend, he is the troll of F1. So you have to balance with watching the build up on bbc and then the grid walk and race on sky.

To those who think F1 is a boring, I can see where you are coming from but because the drivers are so good it is very difficult to overtake (hence the new radical tyres, which make things a lot more exciting). The best drivers just won't present a opportunity to allow for a overtake, its just how it works.

But if you want to see crashes and crazy overtaking moves check out GP2 and GP3. Full of teenage drivers trying to make a name for themselves and they attempt the most crazy and ridicules moves you have ever seen (virtually never comes off). But it is quite funny seeing them try and failing spectacularly.

This is the first year ever when I don't know who id driving for what team... now I am more interested in real racing like the World Endurance Championship and important things like who driving for AF Corse and Greaves motorsport... remember you can see real racing for around £35 per week end (grandstands, pitwalk and twon endurance races for three and six hours respectively as well as WSR 3.5) BARGAIN

Not really. Indy cars might go round in relentless circles, but at least they are three or four abreast when they are doing it.

And not a DRS zone in sight.

Well many say MUTD get a head start at home every game! And in tennis you have the seeding (which helps)

Monaco perhaps you're right but who doesn't like tits!

And yes superbikes/motogp is great stuff to watch but so is F1, well last year at least....

Bring it on! Last year was great I'm hoping for more of the same but slightly less "fingers"

Looking forward to the season ahead.

Prior to last season, I'd never had Sky before, but when the BBC (who's coverage at the time with jake, Eddie and DC was first class ) lost the rights to show all races, I took the plunge for Sky.

Thought Sky coverage of the race weekend as well as the other shows, testing etc has been really good, plus I'd miss Martin Brundles grid walk ;o)

Red Bull still look like the team to beat, but as has been shown in F1 history, it can't last forever.

What I meant was that Montoya is a highly strung pudding head.

He cannot be seen as a sage in any circumstance and certainly not on the subject of a sport he was kicked out of mid season.

Yes, but annoyingly SkyGo has finally stopped working on my jailbroken iphone. I find it stty that the tosspots at Sky block SkyGo access on jailbroken devices, despite the fact that my Sky subscription is 100% legit. My ruddy phone is only jailbroken for SBSettings. Best hit the hay, alarm set for 05:45 which gives me enough time to grab a bowl of coco pops and stick the telly on smile

how on earth did the BBC not take Monaco, undoubtable the most exciting and best race in F1, Why am I paying for a TV License when the BBC are canceling every thing I watch and replacing it with ludicrous song and dance contests and socalled Live shows
