I wouldn't miss it if they dropped it.
The cars are far better than that track can offer, and it shows.
Totally support your comment the F1 Circus would not consider a new road track like Monaco its not fit for purpose for a modern day F1 track its held because.......Money yup Money the rich the powerful, the influence and the Bankers yes thats right I said Bankers.Monaco is st !! Thats right I said it's st....
I wouldn't miss it if they dropped it.

Is it right or wrong well thats not for me to comment but I would think its all about selling the sport to the 'right' people, more than the suitability of ot being a race track.

No, a rain of agreement will come down on you. Monaco is st !! Thats right I said it's st....

The summer panto that is Monaco is a showcase for Monaco and nothing else. As a 'race' it can out-dull Hungary, and that is saying something. Mind you, today's race runs it close.
NO!
THE MAGIC HAS GONE!
Will watch BBC high lights as I PAY FOR THAT ALREADY. Although I fell asleep though it toady!
But since that greasy-snide-rat priced the BBC out of the market, I personally have lost that "MUST SEE IT LIVE" motivation.
I now go to the pub on Sunday after my morning sporting activity, so doubt I will even bother to watch the live BBC shows.
Have been invited to Silverstone via work, but soo pissed off I've turned that down too!
Fek off Bernie!

I 100% do not get the argument that DRS is artificial.
Think about it - DRS just removes the disadvantage of the following car created by the mess of flilthy air that shoots out of the back of an F1 car. There isn't much "natural" about being a faster driver in a better car and then being stuck for 30 laps because of aero - DRS is just a pragmatic response to remove that artificially created disadvantage. I haven't seen DRS make slower drivers beat faster drivers, but i've seen it prevent faster drivers being stuck behind slower drivers. As it should be.
I'm on the sofa now watching Sky's quali coverage and i'll say again that those above that say their coverage is dumbed down and "terrible" are completely and utterly wrong. Crofty, Kravitz, Brundle, Davidson - all absolutely superb. And Damon and Jonny aren't Eddie and Colthard, but that by itself does not justify some of the nonsense written here.
Agree about the DRS - although it does need some refinement as it can be too much of an advantage at some circuits. It seems to work quite well.Think about it - DRS just removes the disadvantage of the following car created by the mess of flilthy air that shoots out of the back of an F1 car. I don't get the argument that its anymore artificial than overtakes in NASCAR or IndyCar on ovals.

Well said - I thoroughly enjoyed the coverage over the weekend, power cuts not withstanding.I'm looking forwards to the 'home' races even more with GP2/3 in the mix.
Watched it here in Aus from the comfort of my sofa, and frankly loved it. No pay TV needed, either, just FTA, which was great.
However, after living in the UK for several years, I have to say, the FTA service I used to get (2003 - 2009) was still multiples better than what passes for an F1 weekend here.
You guys have it bloody good for free, and bloody excellent on pay-tv. OK, there may be a question over pricing. No sweat. But compared to other parts of the world, I hate to say it, but you're describing a "first world problem".
If I could get your FTA offering, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I think I'm just too busy to have 6 odd hours to sit and watch F1, I'd be happy with just 1.5 hour highlights of every race for the next 10+ years...
Well I won't be watching it live on German FTA (RTL) -- absolutely unbearable. No Sky subscription and no plan to change that (apart F1 there's nothing I find interesting there). Don't think they are losing massive numbers of viewers but IMVHO they are overestimating the quality of their show.

Silverstone WEC is a must
Ok, that's two for this year decided then. Santa Pod, and the WEC at silverstone. Easter weekend I'm in Norfolk so it'd be rude not to see some guys on motorbikes hooning around snetterton too. Not a brass farthing will pass bernies way either....Which brings me on to the subject of the toad. I've been watching a bit too much Doug Stanhope of late, and his rant about the grand national in particular. Reason I raise that, is that Bernie really doesn't want people to be at the race track. He'd much rather you were sat in front of your tv, drinking various sponsorship products, and chuffing down their own brand of flavoured snacks, while your bank account gets fined for £xx amount of pounds a month. He wants to take his merry-go-round to the highest bidder, in the most far flung part of the world, without having to give a toss what time the race is on, and whether he's going to cheese off a massive tv audience. If he fine tunes his business model, the paying punter will feel obliged to get up at stupid o'clock and watch it regardless. The only people that want you at the track is the race organisers, in Bernies world, your a pain in the arse. They've got to feed you, give you something to crap into, think about building a road for you to get there, the trackside punter is a nuisance.
You've got to tip your hat to him, because he's all about fking you over from the comfort of your own sofa down a cathode tube. So far, he's done exceptionally well out of it. Apart from the bit where some ragamuffins duffed him up for his rolex....
So, er, yeah. I looked at the result on the BBC news website, watched the bit where Suzi Perry walked down the pits in leather. And that's your lot, spent the rest of the day in my garage looking for an electrical fault on my quad.
Which was nice.
To watch the races free I have set up a satellite dish on a tripod in my garden, and pointed it at 19.2 degrees East. RTL, the German coverage is on here. The tripod cost me £20 on Amazon. The dish complete with HD set top box and cabling £60 at Screwfix.
If you're bothered about watching it inm a foreign language, just have BBC radio 5 live audio on simultaneously.

I get the F1 channel free as it is bundled in with the HD package. Yes I pay for Sky and the HD package, but F1 was added to it gratis when I already had it, so essentially, it was a free addition for me
Just call me mr pedantic but its inclusive not free you are paying for it......and I suggest it replaces whatever other sport 'filler' there was previously. As they say there is no such thing as a free lunch ;-)Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
