A proper (12’) qualifying highlights package, well done WEC for those of us who missed it yesterday:
Thankfully Alex Malykhin walked away from that massive shunt at the top of Radillon, still a bad place to get it wrong despite the recent improvements. A good pole from the Iron Dames in the GT category as well, led by local Belgian Sarah Bovy.

After seeing the replay of Bamber's attempt to get airborne x00 times.
My take is Bamber was past the BMW, *until* he clips the rear of the Porsche slowing him up thus reducing the gap to the BMW. It was tight, but I'm of opinion if the tap on the Porsche hadn't occured, we'd had a 'oof, that was tight' moment.
Always nice to see Spa sunburning the specators ;-)
It'll be torrential rain tomorrow.

It was all a bit unlucky really. The Porsche moving right after passing the BMW caught Bamber out. The closing speed was quite large and the time to react was minimal. If Bamber had stayed left he would have been OK, but he wouldn't have known that until after the event. Such a shame for all concerned. I'm glad everyone is OK, they were some big hits.
Cracking race, but someone needs to come up with a way that post a safety car intervention that gaps are restored to what they were before. The technology must be possible by now.

It’s close to impossible to be 100% but I think he touched the BMW firstMy take is Bamber was past the BMW, *until* he clips the rear of the Porsche slowing him up thus reducing the gap to the BMW. Both contacts were minor but of course turned him around at very high speed

Race restarting in five mins. Been a good one so far.
Edited to add: I'm sitting opposite the wall that was spanked into - it's all been fixed now.

Ah, you're sitting out by the path or testing your knees on the grassy slope. I suspect the flat draincovers are all taken :-)

Great that a privateer won, on pace against the factory car
Both 963s lucked in due to pit stop timings though, Proton car was the class of the 963 field with Andlauer driving
The Manthey car finishing second in GT3 after the shunt yesterday was incredible, and the other side of the garage winning after two awful races so far
Great race for a massive crowd, wonderful stuff
