I'd like to see an F1 car race in black for a change. Last one's were probably the JPS Lotus-Renault that Senna drove in 1986. If you discount the Andrea Moda that turned up but never raced.

Stealth, the new secret tactic in F1.

What about the all black Arrows in 1998?

Oh yes, you're right. Well that made obviously made an impression on me, especially as a neighbour at the time worked for them hehe

Perhaps I should say the last black F1 car to win a race, when Senna won 2 in 86

Not particularly nice looking images, but they do help to reveal a bit more detail... good ol' photoshop.

Bigger version from the other page, it'll resize here but click on it to open it in a new window

Mainly for the front end and the sponsors listed on the nose really. Can't see the sidepods too well.

Painting it black seems quite a good idea. We're all finding out how hard it is to spot the intricate details of the bodywork- so will the competition, for the time being.

I've always admired the view of certain designers that if they can, they'll choose the best aesthetic solution, given the choice. That Honda looks quite handsome.

Yep, first impressions to me are that it looks more purposeful and aggressive than the RA106, which like its Willis designed predecessors, always looked a little aesthetically unbalanced with a stance that almost made the car look like it was constantly going up hill. Not sure what it was that gave that appearance in my eyes, I think it was mostly the black underside to the nose section along with the fairly chunky nose section with high front wing. Whatever it was just didnt look quite right to me.

Looks like there's a lot more detailing on the car aerodynamically, whether it's enough to compete properly with their rivals we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully the sidepod design will shift some of the weight forward, too.

looks well gorgeous. like the others its very fussy about the decking with all sorts of chimneys etc but the black hides it well. cant imagine theyll racing in black unfortunately. with a car that sexy though it would be a foolhardy man to bet against another button win this year.

Didn't the Saubers run in black without sponsorship for a while (possibly only a race or two) too? One with yellow mirrors (same colour as the camera on that Honda) and one with pink(?).

Alright, alright, alright I forgot about the Sauber as well.

So apart from Andrea Moda, Lotus, Arrows, Sauber, sanitation and the roads, what has a black car ever done for Formula One.
