Looking forward to a full day of BTCC etc now i've got Setanta Sports for £5 a month for the first 3 months
Where do you get it for £5/month for 3 months ?
on their website it's £10/month for 3 months,
then it's £15/month for a 12 month contract !!! on top of sky
I rang and checked, they don't offer any other choice.
It's all or nothing (i can't watch an extra 992 hours of non-motorsport a week??)
I object to paying for loads of stuff when i want less than 5% of it
(which is everything else they show)
I'm an ex NASN subscriber, but i cancelled almost 2 years ago...Imagine my surprise when i got a letter today offering me 3 months for £5 per month
It then reverts to £15 per month but as it's a stand-alone channel package (i cancelled Sky ages ago) i'm not too bothered. I love ice hockey and i don't mind NASCAR either....then there's Premiership footy for 2007/8 and Serie A etc too.
It also means i can choose the BTCC meetings i go to (i.e. no need to go to Brands etc) and save the cost in travel & tickets.

I got a leaflet through the door for an old-firm deal, quote that on the phone and u get the first 3 months at £5. This was about a month ago so I don't know if it will still work.

What else does this setanda or whatever channel show, is it worth it for just btcc or is there more stuff worth looking at?
Boring European league football, Australian league football, American National Hockey league, US PGA Golf tour and some rugby from their adverts. Not worth it for £10.99 a month.
Personally, I would have preferred to give my money to Motors TV for thier coverage of the BTCC and all of the support races. I thought thier coverage was excellent and would have paid around £10 for each event via pay per view if I had the chance.
I will really miss watching it this year but I refuse to pay Setanta for it as they don't cover anything else apart from NASCAR that I am interested in and I can't find any information about thier BTCC coverage on thier website.

Well that was a thoroughly enjoyable day's racing from Brands. Still a bit of panel-bashing going on but not as much as in recent seasons so i hope it continues.
As for those who won't pay for Setanta, that's your choice. I wouldn't pay for a Sky package just to get Motors TV when it went encrypted even though Motors actually got the rights to the BTCC package for £0.

Yeah it was a good day, alot of new faces and some cracking performances, thought Belly shows good progress from last season, Matt Jackson was on fire, Adam Jones was a close 2nd for driver of the day IMO and Rick Kerry did amazingly well to make the grid let alone finish all 3, top job

Quite healthy grid this year, and nice to see some proper cars among the shopping trollies.
Agreed, the BTCC grid looked the healthiest it has been for some while. Big crowd too. (The A1GP in April was being heavily promoted by a gaggle of not unattactive women in sprayed on trousers, so that will be busier than in 2005...)
The Clio Cup cars I thought looked good - a grid of 32 on the Indy Circuit was never going to be incident free
The Porsche Carrera cup was under subscribed but they sounded great - I was suprised there were so few entrants, I'm sure it used to be a packed grid?
Great start to the season, here are some pics from the meeting:
First corner of the first race of the day says it all:
Watch out for this chap - Henry Surtees (son of John), it was his first single seater race in FBMW (having done T-Cars and Ginetta Juniors) and he finished a fighting second
Having survived some very robust battles such as this:
You can see why Clio racing is frantic
And they didn't calm down from yesterday, either:
BTCC didn't disappoint:
Someone always has to be different...
Matt Neal getting squeezed out:
Exit Onslow-Cole:
More carnage:

Quality pictures! I have a few, though the lack of a decent lense on my camera means they were pretty terrible. Was a brilliant days racing and the weather was spot on too! I'm a lovely shade of pink now and fairly sore!! Not been to Brands in a few years but I absoloutely love it and plan to make a few more visits this year. Can't wait for Le Mans!
Excellent day and some great racing. Really enjoyed the 'support' races and was very impressed with some of the racing moves on display in the F-BMW races.
The A1GP car was awesome - was standing about 6 feet behind it when they fired it up and Robbie Kerr blipped the throttle. Ouch. The ad girls were also decidedly
