Unless it was done in private, there was no cup-giving ceremony, so don't expect to see JT presenting the cups on the show.
You might catch him, or Wendy, or Claire, or Mandy in the background, though they did make a point of shuffling the crowd around so that, in their words, the ugly people, or those with the wrong colour shirts, got moved to the back. That was me out on both counts.

What a great programme. The best bit for me was the fact that they didn`t do the usual piss about, make some fun then walk away saying it was all a hoot. They actually got the whole concept and bought into it. Just for 24 hours they forgot they were TV presenters. I`ve never seen Jeremy Clarkson cry on top gear before but he wasn`t alone as the various cars crossed the line.
Everyone was there (if you look hard enough using Sky plus` slow motion facility!). James even managed a speaking role. Our hero
I wonder if we might see them there again next year? Possibly some other motoring programmes might have a go to beat the Top Gear result.

I too thought it was a great programme. It showed Britcar in a very good light and how demanding that sort of racing is on you guys. Richard Hammond looked truly distraught about what happened with the Mosler. If I'm right, he never got in the car again after that. Was he badly to blame or do you all regard that sort of thing as a normal racing incident?
The post-race mud-slinging in the tabloids led to the legal eagles getting involved, so perhaps it's inadvisable to discuss this on a forum.
Clarkson's voice-over intimated that they thought they were getting involved in a clubbie event, and were surprised by the levels of competition and presentation, as exemplified by footage of Moslers and the Z4, and the inch-perfect truck line-up in the paddock. Positive exposure like this can only attract more top-line entrants, and spectators.

I was listening to their radio communications and I can confirm he was definately in the car again during the race. No idea about the crash though, I've only seen as much as was shown on Top Gear.Edited by Marc W on Monday 10th December 19:08

It would be wrong to comment on this particular incident. I can envisage a situation however where a slow inexperienced driver would want to get to the side of the track as soon as possible to let cars pass safely. Were it at night it would be virtually impossible for the driver to know exactly what was going on behind him with all the glare of the lights. An experienced driver might show intent with the car before moving over fully but who knows. It`s easy for the driver of one of the fastest cars in a field to get a bit complacent when shooting past insignificant blurs and to assume they have not only seen him but will also get out of the way and compromise their race for the greater good of the quick car.
Our GT3 tends to be one of the quicker cars in a pack though not as quick as say a Mosler by quite some way. When overtaking I`ve lost count of the number of times I`ve waited "just to make sure" and sure enough the car in front has made a move I suspected might have happened. I know as we came onto the Hangar straight in the 24 hour race for instance there were quite a few times when cars pushed to the right hand side of the track by their corner speed (and remember just because a car is slower than you doesn`t mean it`s not close to it`s limits), made their way to the left hand side of the track which is where the slower cars tended to run so they didn`t have to pull across on the braking zone (very hard to judge distance and closing speeds of cars at night mid way down a long straight).
Just my own comments from experience.
Unrelated : I`d have thought someone would be hard pressed to succeed in legal action against another car on a race track during a race unless there was massive negligence and then it would probably be on the part of the preparing team, ie. car went out with no brakes fitted or not working, team knew their car was going to dump all it`s oil on the track - that sort of thing. Providing a car driven by novice drivers is wearing it`s black cross on a yellow background you are being given fair warning that it may move erratically or fall of the tarmac at will!

I just wonder whether it was easy to deal with as the Moesler was being driven by the Stig at the time?????!!!!!( I'm not blabbing but someone on here already released some photos!)- Joking aside I thought the Topegear coverage was superb. Put Britcar and the 24hrs in the "serious racing category" and for I for one felt slightly in awe of being allowed to race in it- even managed to see our "Moore Racing - Top Gear Please Miss Us" decals on the back of the Honda on the tele. I have to say though that only those that have completed the 24hrs will really undestand how genuiniely knackered JC was at the end of the race. Really want to do it again soon!!

I think you should invite them to run in the same class as you JB - you might have to put some airbags on the outside of your Civic for next year though. Are you planning to drive the same car next year, or do you fancy going to the dark side and trying a 320D (or maybe a new Civic CTDi)?
As a marshal, I was glad of the fog break as it meant I could get a nap and something proper to eat - when I say proper, I mean burger & Relentless, rather than another pork pie.
Hopefully the TG show will tempt a few more spectators for 2008.
Someone told me getting through a 24hr event was emotional but having done LeMans this year I didnt see how? Until I did Silverstone as a marshal and saw the thing for real up front and in person. Every one had a tear in their eye, me included, but what an event and brilliantly portrayed on TG, and on Sky.
I remember talking a very knackered Scuffers in the pitlane after we had let him cross the line, and he was truly exhausted but happy to have finished!

I hope you're doing the full event next year - not just turning up on Saturday night I remember talking a very knackered Scuffers in the pitlane after we had let him cross the line, and he was truly exhausted but happy to have finished!
