There are licences held back for such purposes.
I thought the spare licences, plus the one Gow lent to someone last season, had all been taken up by the new teams.

The HARD Avensis is Kieren Gallagher. Been announced pretty widely.
They haven't paid for the car yet though I believe, just a deposit.
And this is team HARD. It's like the Caterham of the BTCC, until they physically on the grid and racing it's hard to believe anything that's said.
Yeah, I'm quite capable of reading what others have already posted in this very thread.

Doesn't change the fact it been published, on various touring car related blogs, Gallagher has the seat they have announced they intend to run. Be unsure all you want of the number of cars, but they have confirmed their driver.

But not all the teams that were running in 2014 are running in 2015.

Some have been replaced though, Infinti have 2 cars, HARD if they turn up have another car, there's an extra Mercedes to replace a Chevrolet so that's another space that hasn't been freed up. AMD have a second car to counteract Motorbase only running 2. I'd be very surprised come the media day if all the slots aren't taken.

With the new team/cars and only 3 cars not returning so far then I think both bmr and 888 will field one less car to full fill the other spaces. We have what 20 car fully confirmed and only a few weeks till media day be interesting to see where the other drives/teams end up with. Loads of options and news still to come.

Correct. Not sure what your point is though? It's the same licence.

Try reading the full post rather than one line... It was a full grid last year and so far it still is... Any entrant that has dropped out has been replaced straight away. The 2 Infiniti's replace the UA cars, AMD Focus replaces Motorbase Focus, Merc replaces Chevrolet. The HARD Avensis is effectively an extra entrant, or as it's not confirmed, it currently replaces the 3rd MG...

Plato and Turks will not be in the same team.BMR will be Turks,Smith,Scott and Goff.

Platos only option is with a new team or as he says a year off and if he does that I cannot see him coming back.

You think he's able to just walk away from racing?

Thing is i can't see where he'd go away from btcc, no way a gt team would want him.

That's not true. Plenty of GT teams would welcome his money and put him alongside a Pro the same as any other gentleman driver...

Really? I get the joke, and some of the Plato bashing. But he has been and still is very quick.

I don't see him in GT racing, but if he did, I would expect teams to be paying him for his services (and for him to bring his sponsors).

I see Chris Stockton has sold his team to Power Maxed. Still no news of who the driver is to be though?

According to Crash.net it's still Stockton in the driving seat

Definitely not.

From BTTC.net: "Chris Stockton commented, “I’m sad to be taking a backseat just as things are coming together. Unfortunately the old adage is true, you wait for a bus and two come along at once. My pallet distribution business is growing phenomenally and opportunities that just cannot be passed up on have been presented. It is just not possible to run a BTCC team, grow my business and race, and do all entities justice unfortunately."

Bets on Newsham. So he'll be utterly miserable by the half way point of the season if the car is as terrible as it was last year.

Well it won't be the same car for a start - it'll be the saloon which has been worked on during the winter

I have been told that Plato will not be at BMR this year so that leaves him the only realistic option to form a new team with an existing manufacturer or a new one.Whether he can do that I dont know.

Of course I dont think that he wants to walk away from the BTCC and it would be a real shame for the series if that happened.

If it's Moffat's old car that's not likely to be much of an improvement.

Why not? It's a car that has potential but hasn't yet had a quick and experienced driver behind the wheel. If they get a driver who ticks the boxes, no reason it can't be competitive.

I agree, it was performing very well towards the end of the 2014 season, and that's the car they will be using. Indeed that was the reason they bought it from the Moffats.
