So cool!

Who is it? The style says GV, but it looks like a Brabham so Lauda?

I went to Ypres a couple years ago and saw Sinjers flat out in 6th, on the limiter with only 3 tyres! The man has a set!

That will be Gilles Villenueve in the Ferrari at Jarama in 1981, the scene of one of his wonderful wins.

Some awesome shots in the thread at the moment - keep 'em coming!

Just been correcting the PH 917/30 article for them and decided to look at a few photos afterwards.

Nice. As much as I like 917s I've always had a thing for 512s cloud9

I'd take the Penske 512M over a 917 I'm afraid. Looks so awesome and sounds better too.

Lovely, atmospheric footage but from my experiences of watching both at the trackside I'd take a 512S or 512M in preference to a 917.

Of course, if we're talking pure noise then the 312PB and 333SP are the absolute daddies ;-)

Without resorting to anything soppy, the sight of the Martini 917s at Brands, in the hands of Redman at co,in the middle of their WC tour, is what bought out the harsh romance of long distance sports car racing home to me. An inspiration to get in there myself ... I must add that the Targa was the one I wanted to do most. Again, in the footsteps of Brian, Richard and Vic (and others). Bloody marvelous.

This is a dramatic shot of a Chaparral launching skywards after hitting a McLaren at the 1968 Stardust GP at Las Vegas. Jim Hall (Chaparral 2G; no.66) vs. Lothar Motschenbacher (McLaren M6B).

I have long been looking for a colour version or better resolution. Any ideas?
