It is easy, seeing the black and gold Lotus, to remember the shock the livery engendered. It looked fabulous against all the others. Looks good still. Good times.

But what will the name and colour scheme be next year?

BTW, to avoid all the apparent confusion, he is referring to the Mickey Mouse tyres – black with gold lettering. If only they would change name and colour for 2013.

But the 'Mickey Mouse' tyre is the red one...

I would suggest, as Derek alludes to, it is about oil and the move away in general from traditional racing circuits to bland ones raced on solely due to money.

It must be a reference to tyres and the arbitrary element they have brought to this season's championship.

Seems obviously an Illuminati to me. Think about it. He's German and it started in Bavaria. Schumacher has always wanted to control and dominate and especially has been secret about his private life. Seems obvious.

And you believe him...? That's the same Pat Symonds who was banned from the sport for orchestrating a deliberate crash at Singapore?
The same Pat Symonds who owned up to his part in that fiasco, even though others involved didnt.

Nope - you lose, as far from being alone in my opinion of Schumacher I am not alone.

Those on here who just brand us trolls are completely missing the point.

Schumacher is one of the most talented drivers around, BUT the way he won his titles, barging people off the road, using engine management software that was effectively TC when TC was banned (allegedly), leaving his team mates in the dark or with thou shalt not overtake the master contracts, plus bias of the FIA, plus Bernie desperately wanting Ferrari to win from 2000 on for commercial reasons, plus TC being allowed when Ferrari had already developed Czapski's software, plus bespoke tyres from Bridgestone makes him less than a legend in many people's eyes - NOT least those in F1 - ask Coulthard, Frentzen, Hill, Brundle and many others what they really think off the record.

He is a massive figure in the sport, he is a great politician, but he is no sportsman and is ultimately very divisive in terms of his legacy and F1 insiders and fans opinions of him. That's just the truth - so suck it it up!

+1, his titles are tainted. Found out to be an average driver.
Not quite. He is older and in a less capable car now.

But black gold - could he refer to lots of money from the Middle East meaning circuits that are not as fun?
That would be my guess, the term "black gold" has always been used to mean oil before, and I doubt he would make up his own meaning for it.

You are certainly not alone, but you and the others are certainly not in the real world.

Amazing how envy drives the inadequate.

What, having everyone complain how F1 was becoming processional and boring? So how does the FIA introducing grooved tyres to (mainly) slow down MSC fit in all of this? And the fact that Michelin were generally the much better tyre to be on for a time?

Like who exactly? Did button not make a snide comment about him not having the best car anymore when questioned about how Sh#t he was last year??? I would also think Lewis,Rosberg,Vettel etc are as suprised as we all are about how............average he actually is.
If Button actually did say that then he's a tt.

And a tt with a short memory.

His Brawn car had a clearer advantage than any other vehicle in recent times.

What a selective memory he has...

So have you - the Brawn advantage was only for about 4 races before everyone else caught up. And it wasn't that big an advantage - as demonstrated by the relative results of Rubens.

My recollection is that it was longer than that, but regardless Button is in no position to belittle Schumacher about car superiority/championships.

Why would that make him a tt. He may also acknowledge that he had the best car in 2009.....

If he does so fine, but then don't criticise others for enjoying the same advantage.

Having petronas (massive Malaysian oil rich super power and huge donator to motorsport both 4 and 2 wheeled) as one of the Mercs main donators, if it is the Oil rich he is talking about then its a bit stupid really. Would be Like a driver slagging of cancer sticks in the days when fag companies basically enabled them all to race and create ever more amazing cars....maybe dont bite the hand that feeds....
Anyway look, he is talking of tyres. The mystery is cause hes been vocal already and s'pose he dosent want to sound like a broken record so plays it subtle....
The guy was a great great champion and seems like a really lovely bloke to boot, not anything like the cold image the press liked to portray....but cant help thinking every race in last two seasons just gives ammo to the naysayers.... he has made an awful amount of mistakes.
What he needs to do is go find something to fill the void left after F1.....

In the current (Oct 2012) issue of F1 Racing magazine, there's an interview with Schumacher. Asked whether anything in F1 today irritates him, he replies "Black gold. Think about it."

OK, I know I'm being totally thick here, but I have thought about it and I don't know what he's referring to: could it be something to do with Lotus, or oil (sometimes referred to as black gold), or even Lewis? But why would any of those irritate him?scratchchin

Anybody got any ideas?

your digging yourself a hole with that comment
