Nowt wrong with Environmentalism: I'd happily run a quad turbocharged 5 litre V10 on pure methanol.

Carbon footprint? 0.

They can't run it. Just think of all the awful puns that will be spouted by the commentary team when it breaks down/catches fire. Noooooooooooo!!

I imagine James Allen is already furiously masturbating over a picture of himself in celebration of his 2007 Honda phrasebook.

Honda becomes a charitable institution

Honda Racing F1 is not only going green but iss also inviting organisations and people to make a donation to an environmental charity and thus appear on the F1 car. The aim of the programme is to raise awareness of the problems of global warming and encourage people to do more about it. Under the concept of "our car is your car", each donor will buy a tiny individual pixel which will help build the image of planet earth on the car. Each name will be visible on the website when you make the pledge or under a microscope on the car. Donations can be made via the website www.myearthdream.com. The new programme is believed to be an idea that comes from Honda's involvement with Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment.

"We hope that in raising awareness and highlighting the issues we will encourage members of the public to come together and help take on the challenge of climate change," said the team's chief executive Nick Fry.

Thus far Universal Music and Gatorade have signed up and other companies that will be involved include IBM, Fila, Instron, Showa Denko, TUV and GF Agie Charmilles.

You can almost hear them thinking

"Oh no - not only have we got another shit car this season, but they have managed to make it look worse than the Renault"

BP have been long rumoured as new sponsors of Honda, and it would fit in with their whole happy-clappy "we are the world" marketing message.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head there yes

D-Angle and Rubystone,

Interesting idea, but I don't see how that would play with BP's BMW link and Honda's courtship of Sinopec...

Any thoughts?

Rubens: 'You are taking the piss Fry? You want me to get into this?'

Button: 'Get stuffed, you ain't getting me into that bloody thing, Rubens you try it first'.

Have to say that this car is going to go down in the annuals of Autosport as one of the worst liveries in the history of the F1, even motor sport in general, what were they thinking? Fuller might have the brains to market processed pop bands to a young audience, but the prick has no idea what F1 racing fans love and want...

AS I said earlier, I think it is a very effective camouflage scheme. And, as such, will be very dangerous out on track.

So your name goes into a space the size of a pixel, used to make up the overall image....and it would be possible to see your name under a microscope.

How many people are going to say - prove it....show me my name on the race car. Nobody is ever allowed close enough to check, and I doubt the printing is possible to produce names the size of a pixel to make up the final image.

What a load of absolute crap. Both drivers look slightly embarassed...and know full well they'll have to spout the corporate nonsense soon to be enforced upon them, about green this, eco-that...blah blah blah, rather than talking about the car being as rubbish as usual.

Just my thoughts

I pledged £2, although I don't think you have to give any money, just make a promise to do one of a list of things.

Perhaps part of the problem is that the overwhelming majority of the 250,000,000 or whatever people who are claimed to watch the televised bi-weekly FIA procession are not "F1 racing fans".

Doubt it, since in order to sit through "the televised bi-weekly FIA procession", one has to be a pretty hardcore F1 fan.
