I hope to come along all weekend to this, maybe stay in a hotel and not brave the camping section.

Well I'm putting thirty bob a week into this empty carlsberg tin to save up for a drive in the 2008 24hrs.

My plans to run my own car are still on the drawing board, and I am looking at the oil burner route.

After watching TG this weekend with the 24hr report, I must say that the little Daihatsu might be the idea car.... Damn pass me more carlsberg, that's a silly idea! I'll run an ERF artic, twin bunk sleeper cab, my co-drivers can kip in the back, and we'll change over without stopping! There could be room for a hot-tub on the back if we take off the 5th wheel.

Talking of heavy oil, what happened to that diesel supercar from Norfolk that was supposed to be running at some point?

Rob.

Trident Iceni Diesel? I think it has turned up to a couple of British GT events, gone on the track and broken down and gone home. Great concept but they seem to be running on a budget of £1.23 and using events as testing way before they should do. I know lots of people treat dipping into a series as and extension of testing, but that is usually when they have got the car to run more than 2 or 3 laps!

I think a big oil burner in a decent car would be interesting, BMW 123d in an Elise would be good.

Someone told me getting through a 24hr event was emotional but having done LeMans this year I didnt see how? Until I did Silverstone as a marshal and saw the thing for real up front and in person. Every one had a tear in their eye, me included, but what an event and brilliantly portrayed on TG, and on Sky.
I remember talking a very knackered Scuffers in the pitlane after we had let him cross the line, and he was truly exhausted but happy to have finished!
I hope you're doing the full event next year - not just turning up on Saturday night wink
Gonna be there for all four days Tony! Taking the caravan and probably the Mrs too! BBQ one night and if we all end up on the same post someone else is doing a curry night! Cant f'in wait!

Marshalling or spannering?
Spannered at LeMans 24 6 times, finished twice. Its impossible not to get emotional with the effort put in to get the car ready.

Plus once youve been up from 6am Saturday to 2am Monday , without any sleep, youre pretty fecked up emotionally anyway!
