And in Europe. They won several ISRS championships and a Daytona 24hrs. Several drivers, such as Gianni Lavaggi converted them to 4.0L Judd V10 spec. to remain competitive. The sound was amazing - based on the V12 GP engine. I have a gorgeous photo of Vincenzo Sospiri in a JMB Racing car at Donington which my dad took as it descended the Craners. Very special.

I'm sure I remem ber watching races like those on TV, and it was a 911. At that age (very young) I could'nt understand why a Porsche could'nt beat things like a Metro or an Audi. Ahhh, the innocence of youth

Oh, doesn anyone else find those early adverts- black on white with a thin red/yellow band really evocative. Whether its shell, Dunlop or someone else, I know its the mid 80s....

Great picture above of (I presume) 'Williams' winning the Monaco GP in a Bugatti for the first time. Quite a guy; he and other french racers all joined the resistance during the war. Williams got caught by the Nazis and was executed.
