Following hot on the heels of Senna the movie the new project by Ron Howard will be the F1 world title battle between James Hunt and Niki Lauda

Some of the on track filming will start June/July , this week the build started on the pitboxes and grandstand , this is going to be interesting.

Really excited. OT: Michael Mann at least was working on a Ford-Ferrari storyline, I wonder if that project is still alive. The more serious side of Hollywood seems to have sudden interested in racing after 40 years (Grand Prix, Le Mans).

As long as they don't go down the route of "oh, I'm gonna have to really drive fast now, <camera shot of hunt going from half to full throttle>".

If it's done well, it could be superb. I hope it will be, but I know the usual drivel Hollywood pushes out (Driven).

If you look at the previous movies made by Howard & Morgan (especially the one they made together, Frost/Nixon)... why would you set expectations based on Driven?

It's more my expectation/previous experiences of Hollywood output, rather than Ron Howard. My only experiece of Howard's work is Arrested Development.

Of course it will. They'll both be going flat out in top....then the charachter (played by Jason Bloody stathem no doubt...) on the last lap of the last race of the season- the "500" race, will change down a gear and get some more speed to overtake on the rear straightaway before Turn 4 and win the Indy race Yeah Go America!!!!

I'm fairly confident this will be pretty awesome. They have got the Historic Formula One Championship involved in ensuring historical accuracy and sourcing appropriate cars. They recently hired the Nordsleife and a helicopter for a day's filming and took along an M23, Surtees TS19, etc. This was just test filming to check locations and camera angles; they're not messing about...

I still haven't forgiven him for "Happy Days". Scared me for life, so he did.

I think Daniel Brühl will make a great Lauda, but not sure about Chris Hemsworth playing Hunt convincingly.

I want to know the filming dates for this - it'd be worth getting to the Nordschelife to hear them going full chat round there...

The M23 is perfectly authentic but I hope to goodness they don't put Lauda in a 312T.

Awesome. If it's done as a documentary like Senna it should be great. Better than any FIA season review!

Flims like driven are st because they're pure fiction. Truth can be stranger and more exciting than fiction. The Brawn-JB story so is hollywood and crying out for a movie following JB from being good but wrong cars over the years, to a last-gasp attempt with the Brawn and winning the WDC!

It's like Silver Dream Racer really without the st ending.

It seems after Senna and the numbers it pulled at the box office, the movie industry could be set to cash-in?

Goody!
