What series would my 4 door 500bhp barge be eligible for?
Discussion
Just putting the feelers out, I'm considering doing some racing for a change & as I already have a competition spec car (originally built for drifting) what series might it be eligible for? Its that or I go MX-5 Racing...
Basic specs, blue book safety kit, fully caged, fire extinguisher in date seats & belts etc. Original spec engine & gearbox (ie variations of the model came with these) but has a big turbo, management etc it runs anything from 300-485bhp depending on boost settings, it no lag monster either as it makes 300bhp at 3000rpm but.... it weighs 1700kg or thereabouts!
Retains all of the interior, except carpets & rear seats, has original glass & bodywork + extended front wings. Its on coilovers with adjustable suspension arms that could be put back to original if need be. I deliberately left the aircon in too
I'm aware of the Nippon series, which looks viable & time attack which it has casually clocked some rapid times in practice sessions, just wondered if there was anything else suitable for massive barges like mine.

Euro Saloons? Some seriously quick metal in that! http://www.eurosaloons.co.uk/
BARC SE QMN's http://www.barcsoutheast.co.uk/about.html may be ideal if your based in the south. You will probably need a restrictor on the turbo, but then i'm sure pretty much any race series will demand that anyway.

1700kg is not going to be much fun. race an mx5
Its actually OK on track, on the right tyres.... it can be a grippy old barge, hence finding out which tyres various championships allow. Its generally as quick as evo's & scoobies of similar hp.Hmmm Britcar, is that all endurance stuff? or do they have 15-20min sprint races too?

+1. If you want sprint races i cant recommend the QMN enough. Friendly club and if you arent at the front end, fields of 32 cars means you will always find somone to race against. Be it an Escort WRC, Renault Maxi Megane or a Mini Clubman!

if you want more details pm me and i can put you in touch with Rod Birley, who helps run the series.

Just been watching some of the Euro Saloons races on youtube and it looks great fun. You could try Class D of the Combe Sports & GT series.
