Absolutely bloody fantastic. clap

Turned around a weekend that looked like going the other way. Shame about Thompson missing out on 2nd when Larini passed him, 2 Brits at the sharp end of the championship is a fine achievement though. Especially as Thommo's car is 4 years old.

I wonder how many seconds of coverage he will get at the BBC Sports Personality of the year?

Plus - Oliver Jarvis won the F3 race. clap

Great achievement. Plus, of course, he won the European championship as well, so four times in a row.

The luck was definitely with him in the first race, then kept it cool in the second.

Is he counted as British then?

Of course it's a shame this will get almost no recognition in the mainstream press but I don't know if anything else should be expected. Surely there must be loads of minority interest sports that don't get press coverage. Is motorsport entitled to different treatment for some reason?

Well done Andyclap (and Oliver), I stayed up all night to watch it, feeling a bit tired now...

Danny Watts also won the Porsche Supercup race but he overtook under yellow and was given a 30 second penalty which dropped him back to 5th!

Well done Andy and well done BMW, fantastic achievement when you take into account all the concessions that some of the other front wheel drive teams have enjoyed.

Do you want to rethink that one?

Andy is a Guernseyman but last time I looked Guernsey was part of Great Britain?

Well done to Andy and to Jo for all the support she gives him. I've only just got home to watch it - just on race 2 but we looked at the results earlier. How lucky is that boy biggrin

Actually....

Guernsey is not part of the UK or Great Britain, it is, however, a crown dependancy, and Federacy within it (the UK).

Prelux is British in that he comes from "The British Isles", but to be truthful, he is a Guernseyman through and through.

Not that it will make one iota of difference to the mass media that only deal with people who kick balls (and their wives nights out), and X-list celebs stuck in the undergrowth!

So he didn't win the race - because he overtook under a yellow flag.

Well you'd better tell the WTCC organisers and Andy that he's not British then and they played the wrong anthem and Andy carried the wrong flag at Brands. He is a Guernseyman and lives back there very happily but he's also proud to be British. Not that it really makes any difference at all, he's a stonking good driver and a nice guy.

I don't think thunderbelmont was saying that he's not British, more clarifying Guernsey's political and geographical situation. As he pointed out, Guernsey is not part of Great Britain.

I was just curious about what nationality he is considered to be when racing.

Indeed, congrats to Andy on yet another successful season in a very tough championship. Shame he probably still won't get the recognition he deserves though.

Off topic, MonkeyHanger, recognise that name. Would you be the same one that resided on various Skoda forums back when I was known as fab16v and had my Fabia vRS then?

Ferzactly!

If you look up the national anthem for Guernsey, you'll find it's our "rousing enigmatic" God Save The Queen. They do have the "Sarnia Cherie" where they need a distinguishing anthem.

If you have a snout here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guernsey you'll find out more about this most pleasant of places.

You will see in the "Sport" section that Mr Prelux is mentioned (I've been good an edited it to credit the 2007 title to him as well).

Rob.

Congratulations Andy. I remember him back in the British Hill climb Championship days. If theres any justice (and there isn't) he'll be Sports personality of the Year with J Toseland second.
