Just in case I have missed something does anyone know whether there is a preview show for the forthcoming season? I figured it would be this weekend but I couldn't find it on anywhere, wondering if the license does not start until Friday practice or something. Any ideas?
Also as far as I am aware the BBC will be showing all of the sessions via the red button, is there anyway of knowing the times for these?

We've got one on DSTV out of South Africa, using the same production company that does the race coverage, so a preview show is made, it just appears the BBC don't show it.

Is it possible to record red-button programmes with Sky? I'd like to see the practices, but can't be ar$ed to get up at 5am.

As far as I'm aware you can't record from red button. But if you have broadband is also streamed live over Internet so will probably be available after for a while on iplayer no guaruntees but would make sense if they made the most of the license and the technology.

I've just bought a PVR and I'm hoping to record some of the red button services from the BBC. The 2 practice sessions from Australia will be my first test!

That, it seems, is so long as they put the programme in the EPG for channels 301 & 302:

There should'nt be any reason why we can't record channels 301 & 302 like any other freeview channel, think i'll try it myself on friday.
Does anyone which of those 2 channels the practice sessions are going to be on?

From memory I'm pretty sure it is on channel 302.. I set up timers on my Topfield PVR for it at the weekend.. There was data in the EPG that confirmed they were showing Practice 1. 2 and 3 etc..

I've recorded stuff from channels 301 and 302 before. If you can't use Sky+ in that way then resurrect your old VCR and connect it up to a Freeview box

301 / 302 is only on Freeview boxes, Sky doesn't designate it a channel and you can't record it on Sky+ unfortunately, so personally I think I'll be digging out my old freeview box and linking it up to the HDD recorder specifically for this task.
