Much concern for Dan Wheldon. Here's hoping...

It feels like an age, but 20 mins from accident to chopper taking off is pretty good.

Confirmed Dan Wheldon was in the medical helicopter. No news of his condition though.

I was worried by Danica Patrick getting upset after appearing so cool earlier. Hopefully (you know what I mean) it was just the adrenaline finally hitting/running out and not bad news.

The worst news is confirmed.
RIP Dan. Thoughts with his family and friends.

So, what can they do about the catch fencing?
Not sure.

Dropping the speeds would drop the energy; if you did that whilst dropping the grip (it would keep the "loose" look of the racing) and upping the survival cell requirements?

Are Indy specs similar in terms of safety technologies to F1?
Maybe a separate thread for this discussion? It would be nice to keep this one respectful rather than delve off into a likely argument/wide ranging discussion deserving of attention.
Thanks.
