Great news regarding the Tuscan success in the International GT 90 race at Silverstone! A few of us were competing at Croft this weekend and ran into some difficulty that will be pertinent to all Tuscan Challenge cars during scrutineering. We are told that the welded 'helmet hoop'atop the rear cage is no longer acceptable to the MSA. They are to be removed with obvious complications to any driver over 5'5", or a new cagefitted with the extended hoop being integral to the structure of the cage rather than being a welded 'add-on'! This means that every Tuscan that I have ever seen is basically ineligeble to race in their current form.
We need to approach the MSA to challenge this assertion, the hoop extention is very strong, indeed at the Birmingham Superprix meeting our car was craned off the circuit twice using this hoop as a lifting point!! Perhaps we should have had the driver craned off instead before he got in the car!!
Please be aware of this ruling and perhaps we can have peoples thoughts and formulate a plan of action before it gets unecessarily expensive!!
Best regards to all. Tony
