Discussion
went out on the bike this morning bangor to pentrefoelas, misty af on the evo triangle but was still nice, down to bala then back via trawsfynydd and caernarfon... was very nice and only a couple of 20mph zones which didnt bother me at all! spent the last 2 hours cleaning the bike though!!

Wales has become a drudgery of 20 mph zones. I wouldn't bother. And I live here.
The only thing slower than the traffic is the internet speed.

That's sad, been a few years since I enjoyed Welsh roads especially around Anglesey..
20 mph through say, Ruthin or Bala, is hardly a problem.

Never done any driving in Wales but on my list to check out.
Well worth planning fuel stops in advance, even taking advantage of top ups. Middle wales is a bit barren for super unleaded. I’ve got a route I like there and it is about 130 miles between fuel stations, which is a bit tight in a couple of my cars! Can imagine a Monaco having fun doesn’t have spectacular range.
Oh another route planning tip, if you were planning on relying on a phone for sat nav then take a backup proper say nav or write down some directions that can get you where you need to go. Phone service is pretty patchy especially in mid / west / northwest . I’ve had a few times I’ve had to switch from Google maps to the old TomTom when the phone has lost reception.

Tesco in Llandrindod Wells has 99RON Super Unleaded. Heading south I think the next is Carmarthen. heading north.... good luck!Riley Blue said:

There isn’t a shortage of petrol or stations themselves, I have found super unleaded is harder to come by in the more remote areas. Few occasions I’ve had to do a splash n dash to get me back to a station with super.
Didn’t know you could download maps off google. Will do that myself in future thanks

As for fuel... I always put in Super, but the monaro isn't fussy, its a big lazy v8, It will get what's about
Cheers for the tip ill download the maps now
Ill do some route updates over the next couple of days and add on here
Slight upset is I booked zipworld for 4pm, but due to lack of bookings they've moved us to 2.30 which means more direct route there, then some exploring around Snowdon after.
These maps are there to follow, but also while there we see something we want to go look at or a road we want to drive.
As for range,, being good 250 ish miles the monaro has an incredibly small tank for what it is at 60L, it can glug through it pretty dang fast, depending how I drive.
But its a road trip with my daughter to enjoy the roads and scenery so no mad driving etc, just a good ol road trip with the odd blat where it calls for it

Id suggest a couple of additions to your first map
When you first go up to the A465, take the B4560 from Garnlydan to Llangynidr. Work up from there to Brecon on the main road then back down the way you already have planned in, so from Brecon take A470 south and peel off right onto the A4059 towards Penderyn.
You could head further south from here rather than west straight away and go over Rhigos Mountain and Bwlch mountain. Head west from Bwlch viewpoint towards Neath. You can then go back up the A465 to your original route at Glynneath. (super unleaded available at a couple of places there).
After Black Mountain Pass take a right at Port-ar-Ilechau to Trecastle. Left onto A40 then right onto the Military road from Llywel to Tirabad.
Then join back onto your route and head up the Devil's staircase as planned. Once up and over the hill for that you will come to a fork in the road, you are currently heading right to Tregaron. Go left, brown sign for Llyn Brianne and head along the edge of the reservoir to the dam at the far end. This is IMO the best road in Wales, you are going right there you don't want to miss it! Then turn around and do it again and head the planned way to Tregaron (this road gets a bit tight and gnarly towards Tregaron so just take it easy).
Last modification id make is instead of going straight on at Tregaron, go right onto the B4343 and follow this all the way up to Devil's Bridge. then head over to Aberyst.
Then right up north since you are going 99% of the way there go on up to Llandudno and head around Great Orme, the road around it is good and the view from the top car park pretty good.
