Inspired by Bachi PHN I'm working on a Norway route for the summer as a Bday present. (can't make their dates )
I'm slowly working my way though various bookmarks from searches.
But I reckon you lot will have already been there and done it
So any recommendations hints or tips
BTW I'm struggling to find the "snow" & "ash" roads

Low speed limits, lots of plod, zero tolerance to speeding and jail for drink driving (and lower limits than the UK). Hotels, food and drink way more expensive than the UK. Fuel more than the UK. Tolls on many bridges. One Ferry from UK (freight ship). But - it's an absolutely beautiful country and the people are fantastic. The roads mentioned are all pretty good, the arctic circle is a long slog and nothing exciting when you get there - but - the arctic circle raceway is track well worth a visit
Can you drive a car onto the freight ship... Is it DFDS from Newcastle? We went to Norway in 2005 Newcastle to Kristiansand...... not long after the ferry crossings stopped .
We have always wanted to do it again, but no ferry
DFDS from Harwich to Esjberg, bomb through Denmark for 3 hours(212km's) then speedferry from Hirtshalls to Kristiansand, we stayed at the Yess hotel which is minutes from the port for our 1st night before Motoring on.
The speedferry is quite an experience!!
Heres a good few piccy's to hopefully get you in the mood!
How much luggage can you get in a Cayman, answer plenty for the Wife, and not much for me LOL, but we did fit our limit of alcohol in!!!
Queued up at Harwich port. Tip the Commodore Lounge is well worth the extra on the ferry to Denmark but get booked quickly as the prices go up in the hundreds overnight if you wait!
Speedferry from Denmark to Norway (Kristiansand) did not go down well with some of the other halves!!!
You do get packed in.
The 2nd house we stayed at with some views.
Trolls Ladder.
A few Unesco sites.
Lastly a mixture of various others out of the hundreds of pictures taken, great place you will love it!!!!!!! and yes we had our own 60km race track to the nearest town!
Atlantic Road
Made me laugh after we had started to talk about deliverance we found this!
We only saw any real sports cars at the ports due the cost of anything decent in Norway.
Sorry for taking over but thought you may get a bit more excited as i did thinking back!!!
Happy New Year, Jontymo

The Cayman is an ace road trip car, so much more room for gear than the Boxster.
When I did Norway we went across to Denmark then over the bridges to Sweden, up to Norway also, although we did do the Kristiansand to Newcastle ferry on the way home as it still operated at that time.
If anything the blast through Denmark and Sweden helps build the excitement for Norway.
