Good roads around the peak district
Discussion
From Ladybower, head west along the Snake Pass, drop down into Glossop, turn right at the main traffic lights in the town centre (next to the Railway station), and then drive six or seven miles, following the Longendale reservoirs on your left, to pick up the main Woodhead road east towards Sheffield.
After about a mile bear left and take the steep climb to the summit of Holme Moss.
Past the TV transmitter on the left, and drop down into Holmfirth. (Last of the summer wine country).
There is a nice little car park at the summit of Holme Moss, on the right, where, on a nice day there is usually a nice small gathering of cars and motorbikes, plus an ice cream van if you are lucky.
From Holmfirth, turn into Dunford Road and head towards Langsett and pick up the the A616, turn right at Midhopestones after a couple of miles and follow the road past Bradfield to join up again with the A57 Snake road.
Turn right heading (again) towards Glossop and you will arrive back at your starting point(Ladybower) in two or three miles.
A nice little circular, should take just under two hours taking it nice and easy.

Whilst there are some road with nice views etc at this time of year very few are nice to drive if you want to press on and enjoy your car! Too many muppets stuck at 40mph everywhere. bakewell, to monyash and then through longnor out to the roaches can be fun, beware of the potential for getting air born between longnor and the roaches though. Nice pup and walk when you get to the roaches.
A6 bakewell to buxton can be fun if no traffic especially on the bendy bit in the valley.
