Hi all,

We've just moved house and are now in Knebworth, Herts.

It took over two hours to get to Brent Cross this morning via the A1. That was a mistake.
Does anyone have any tried and tested routes that might improve on this?

I am thinking cross country to the M1 and avoid the A1 all together. Any advice is appreciated.

Train.
Considered it. Costs more than the car, and doesn't save much time.

I find time of travel is more important than route.
Well you're not wrong.

So, if you were to leave Knebworth at 7.15am, and wanted the quickest route at this time, which route would you take? wink

whenever I come out of london I use the M1 (I live in Welwyn Garden City) The roundabout at the bottom of the M1 / North Circular is a killer in the mornings though.
Its easy enough to cut across country through wheathampstead, south of Harpneden and join the M1 at Junction 9. From the far side of WGC I can get to the M1 in around 25 minutes pretty much regardless of what time I leave. The only issue is this route will add a lot of extra miles.
That said 2 hours from Knebworth to Brentcross. I think you were a bit unlucky to be honest.
Hi mate

This is the solution! Tried it this morning, and it was much better. as you say, 25 mins to the M1. And was 30 mins from there. Much better than two hours, but perhaps we were unlucky as you say.

I work at staples corner, and I agree, its a pain in the arse. The misses drops me here on her way to Ealing, but no matter what time of day, the m1/North Circ junction is busy constantly.
