Me, my 2 friends, my girlfriend and one of her friends are planning on doing a 21 day trip through Europe seeing most of the landmarks/cities and taking in some of the best roads along the way. I'm 20 whilst my other two friends are 21 and 22 come the time of the trip. Just wondered what the best way to hire a car is as Hertz do student rental now or if there are any other companies who specialize in this sort of thing. I know its very hard to come by due to insurance companies/hire companies what with the age etc. Woule you recommend getting a RHD car over here or get one in France which is LHD?

Many thanks,

Dave

Basically between us we have a new 1.6 Focus, new 1.3 Fiesta, new Aygo, Corsa and Fiat Punto and none of us really want to risk crashing each others cars etc by going in one car. Besides its more of a holiday than a full on hoon. The best we can hope for is another 1.6 Focus hatch and my friend doesn't want to put even more miles on his Focus which I suppose is fair enough. All the other cars aren't big enough.

me and some friends usually go to europe in the summer

last year we went to nice, drove down in one of the friends dads van, also visited monaco, italy, germany, luxemburg and belgium.

this year, we looked into hiring a car in italy, but it seems very expensive, add on to that that they wanted an extra for young drivers (were all 21)

we find that when you at up the cost of getting to the UK airport, parking, flights, car hire, it works out cheaper to drive if theres a few of you sharing the cost of petrol/tolls.

either way, yourll have lots of fun, driving in europe is much more fun/easier than here, less cameras and faffing about with yellow boxes more just get on and go

oh and speed cameras on motorways mostly had signs just before, say 200 yards.
we didnt see any cameras in the towns at all

this is over 2500 miles over about 8 days
dugt, thanks for the info. That what were planning to do, get a car from Birmingham Airport as it's closest. we're not botherd about the speed or how good an interior is in a car it's just space. A Focus hatch is the biggest we can get due to age.
