Well here she is, some of you may have read my previous post in the GG pages. Bought this tonight of my mate for £200. Its a Saab 900 talladega 2.0, 130k miles and 8 months tax, new brake pads and recently serviced. Its the best £200 i've ever spent! The seats are so comfy its untrue and i love the little touches as the night mode on the dash and instruments when it turns off the unnecessary dials and lights, its just so cool! Heres a couple of pics, sorry for the poor quality. i'll keep you updated with my adventure with my essentially free car
I've just been reading your other thread. I also run one of these as a daily snotter, my commute is 27 miles each way. It is great to drive and gives me 34 mpg. Being a non-turbo there is absolutely nothing to go wrong.
It's my fourth Saab and I also have a 9-3 lpt for weekends and motorway runs. I regularly drive York to Devon.
Try UKSaabs for all things Saab and I usually buy service items from ebay (Neo Bros or Steve Lewis) or PartsforSaabs.com.
Yes I know there is a high GM content but as a human being we share 90% of our DNA with Apes. There's a lot less Vauxhall than that in the Saab.
Enjoy!

Lovely, all of that and 12 months MOT for £200, you can't go wrong. I had one of these 10 years ago and loved it despite being a bit of a barge. I never got tired of the night button and the Swedish spec heater that could roast chickens in the middle of winter. Utterly massive boot too.
Enjoy!

Theres not that much GM in there. Mainly a bit of chassis sharing with the cav, and not much else!Enjoy!
The engine, gearbox, dash, seats etc are all Saab
I've nearly had one as a daily myself, but needed an estate. As a compromise my other fun vauxhall has a Saab Gm900 turbo fitted.
Ok so I thought I'd do a little update. All is not well in the Saab camp, the car I bought to run around in is playing up and I'd like some advice if anyone can help. Basically the engine is cutting out when the revs drop to idle at around 1k. Its like its stalling. This is happening when sitting stationary at lights etc and when changing gear at low speeds, very problematic as you can imagine, hill starts are now a delicate ballet of rev holding at 2k biting points and a stiff handbrake. I've looked at the air filter, all is ok there, I tried unplugging the sensor cable going into the air box and that killed the car in the same way it's been doing it itself, I'm really hoping its a simple fix as I currently have 2 cars both off the road and biking in the cold is a bloody chore!
It's most likely to be your idle air control valve. Over time and miles they get gunged up, causing what you describe.
Do some googling - you can clean it out easily yourself and have a nice smooth idle again. Carb cleaner spray and some light oil are all you need. I remember having to do the one on my old GM900.

eta You might find there's a fault code stored:

You only need a piece of wire to check - nothing fancy! These cars are very simple and easy to fix for what they are, and there are plenty being broken so nothing is expensive spares-wise.
