Tart it up best you can while learning about it and sell it on for a profit which should be easily done with this one.

Buy something else and repeat. By the time you are 17 you should have something nice and sensible to drive for a bit (read that as boring!),hopefully made enough to pay for insurance and tax and all the boring stuff and you will have learned a good bit about cars.

Bit naughty but if you dont buy and sell loads then Im pretty sure its ok and you dont get classed as a trader and having to deal with all that entails.

On Wednesday I'm making an offer on a local Triumph Spit 1500 but that one needs a full rebuild which should be fun biggrin

As my polish is just terrible. Anyway as i said what a nice surprise.
I have to say I left Poland 4 years ago and now your Polish is probably better than mine. I can speak Polish OK-ish but I can't spell some words properly frown

I have had insurance quotes when I put my details through confused.com with a 17 yr old birth date, I got a quote of 3500 per year which is quite a bit, I'm hoping the insurance prices will go down by the time I'm 17 though. There is a bloke on the Owners' Club Forum who has a 4-litre XJ40 and he's 19 and has it insured for something like 2800, you just have to look well to get a low quote.

When I was 14 my dad bought me a mini 1000 non runner from a garage.

It was beige with red doors. I loved working on it. Taught me loads about cars, managed to get it running and painted it red with a white roof.

Mate, you are a deadset champ for doing that.

Me and a friend bought a Holden Gemini (small kind of Vauxhall think - Escort sized from the late 70s) and did a auto to manual conversion when we were 14. Teaches you so much about cars.

Good to see you getting your hands dirty and getting involved.

What I've been up to, instead of being glued to the PlayStation all day.

I've got most of the rear end rust removed, grinding it down & treating it with converters. Pictures below, filler should be going on soon as I can get mum down to the local Halfrauds to get some.

From this:

To this:

To this:

And so it's safe and doesn't get damaged with the wire brush, I removed the rear bumper chrome and it was in surprisingly MINT condition underneath, with only a few little rust 'spots':

Which left Oliver looking like this today:

More pics tomorrow, hopefully of removing rust around the C-pillars and rear window surround. BUT I have one question, how do you remove the little chrome finishers & the plastic in the picture below?

Christ. When I was 13 I bought my first Toyota Paseo to strip for spares (learnt alot from that actually) and then at 15 I bought a project Paseo, then gave up pouring money into a never perfect example, and stripped that too. I'm just coming up 18 and own a mint low mileage Paseo biggrin

Credit to you man, at 12 your handy with rust removal too! (though.. I guess your 13/14 now?)

When I was your age it was all about sex, porn and learning how to smoke.

I'm still 12, 13 on March the 9th. Just thinking about it, if I started sleeping with girls, and if mum found out she'd go nuts! I'm good with removing the rust, it's the painting I'm worried about!

Get some practice on getting good turnouts on spare panels or plastics or something, then go in for the kill smile

And yeah, my mum did say once (after my 2nd time) "if you were having sex at your age il chop your bks off". Good thing is she never knew, but she knows about me and my current girlfriend - but its what you expect when we have been together for over a year now.

I think now may be a good time to drop that subject...

On the subject of your Jaguar, I'm incredibly impressed! I only wish that I had had the same opportunity when I was younger as if I'd really considered all the things I wanted to do with my life, it should have included either mechanics and vehicle technology, or music production. I have followed a path that has led me to neither.

Keep doing what you're doing. Not only are you setting yourself up for some great opportunities in the future, but its so refreshing to hear of someone your age doing something worthwhile in their spare time, instead of roaming the streets and causing trouble.

I can only imagine though man, your mates are taking the pee about you having a big old Jag at your age? If they are, jokes on them, as they can't afford that kind of luxury biggrin

Don't let anyone stand in the way of what you dream of. If you dream of having a restored Jag by the time you are 15, then chase it, no matter how they laugh. You aren't doing it to please them, its to please yourself.

If they don't joke, and they love your car, don't let them near it, make them really jealous so they go out and buy a Fiesta :P

Oh how right you are! They liked it for the first week, and then started getting jealous.

The Holden Gemini is the Australian Open Kadette C and the Open Kadette is the Euro Vauxhall Astra.

Just, the older ones, as with the Escort and the likes, are much cooler than todays. Todays Astra will never be a desired classic, same for the Focus.

Dzien dobry!

That is freakin' epic. I wish I had a Jag at your age!

Paper round paid for a lot of fancy guitars though, so I can't complain.

Top work. Very impressive. There's a future for you in restoration if you'd ever want to pursue that route, no doubt.
