I may have been the first to notice - on your first picture you do resemble a suicidal madman holding a gun to your head.

Great looking car though! thumbup

Also treated her to a new set of Michelin pilot sport 3 tyres & i cannot recommend them enough the car now has so much more grip in both wet & dry on the Dunlops it would easily spin the wheels in forth but now i can get grip in 3rd!!
... I'm with you fitted to my R32 and roundabouts and corners are even better. So much more confidence too.

Lovely looking car must be good fun to drive

Well the time has come to say goodbye to the best car i have ever owned cry im really not sure if im making the right decision but i want to go 4x4 so will be looking to get into an Evo.
I did actually go to buy an Evo but came home with the Rs!! hehe

Ive put her in the classifieds & will see what happens, of course if she doesn't sell then ill just upgrade some more laugh

It seems that a couple of tuners have found a way to run bigger injectors with the standard ecu so 400 bhp has become a lot cheaper to achieve biggrin

Get on the MLR when you are looking to buy an Evo. Get one thats had at least "stage 1" mods if you can, saves paying to do it your self wink

Neil,

As you may remember, I bought an EVO IX FQ360 18 months ago after 5 glorious years owning my FRS. I have to say I haven't looked back once - as fantastic as the RS was the EVO is in a different league for both performance and handling. Still prefer the looks of the FRS though! smile

I must admit I also think the rs is a better looking car but no other 4x4 car appeals to me bar the cosworth but they are to old now for a daily runner.

One thing i am a bit concerwd about is a friend had a high 300's Evo 7 a while back & my focus would leave him with relative ease I want to go faster not slower!! hehe

Will be wanting 400bhp + so have been looking at modified cars but have stopped looking for now until the focus has sold or I decide I can't part with it smile

Indeed insurance in these is cheaper than you expect it's been over 300 for well over a year & has remained a reliable steed smile I've not had a lot if luck selling so I'm just debating what to do next I may well keep the car & go for 400 bhp smile

I think you should go for over 400 what would you have to do? Bigger turbo brakes? Forged pistons etc? Be exciting but exspensive i guess tongue out

Also what about getting that sort of power down through the diff. Dont mk2s suffer from poor traction in 1st 2nd?

Any car van have traction issues my car is very manageable at it's current level although can be a bot hairy in the wet if you let it come on boost off boost it's a pussycat smile

Nobody really knows what the stock engine is safe for there are 400 bhp ones on stock internals but a few have broken but afaik all of the failures have been caused by fueling problems to get 400 bhp I'll need injectors a fuel pump & a map from either msd or jamsport who have both found a way of running the injectors on the stock ecu my turbo will cope ok although my clutch will probably not take it for long.

You never sold it then?! good choice, i like evos but the frs is that little bit more desirable to my eyes.

Also.... im surprised they numbered them as i thought they only number cars made in limited numbers....

No didn't sell the car the car market is dire at the mo if someone is willing to pay the right price then I will let it go but I'm not actively trying to sell at this time.

They are limited to 4501 examples hence the numbered discs just don't assume they are in any order mine was built 1 month before the end of production But there are much older cars with later numbered discs, so I think ford must have just chucked them all in a bucket & grabbed whatever came out first laugh

I made 307bhp at 1.2 bar & am no running 1.5 so will be a bit more now, it's surprising how the focus can punch above its weight I've hung onto supercharged 600bhp+ vxr8's & monaros when I've been on runs thumbup
