Wiki says "This innovation was first patented by Mercedes-Benz in the early 1950s"

Some pics of Jum at MG Saloon Day yesterday. Great weather! Great run out!
We now have access to DVLA's official records of cars taxed and on the road. I thought there were about 50 MG Monty Turbos on the road.....wrong....just 13!eek
There's more on SORN, but not much more, but now rarer that the limited run Maestro Turbo!

As has been discussed on other threads, I wouldn't rely on those figures. They have proved to be way off the mark.

Your Monty, is, as ever, fabulous cloud9

Nah, that was just the rust affecting structural integrity.

Any other pics.

Maybe that capture a bit more of the Maestro - it looks just like an old love!

Great looking car, my dad had a champagne beige one on a B but that rusted to death before him having a silver D plate given by the dealer in 86.

There were a few Maestros there, most were the very rare MG 'Tickford' Turbo. The black one you spy next to mine is a Turbo;) Instandard form, these were quicker to 60 than the Monty Turbos by 0.6 secs with an official time of just 6.7. There were at least half a dozen of these at the show, but only two Monty Turbos! (including mine)

Very nice car. biggrin

My nan used to have an MG Metro very similar to this..

She sold it on in the end though, shame as I'd have definitely bought it if I was older at the time frown,
she's got a crappy Daewoo Matiz now! yuck

Thanks.

It is not my old one - which I am sure was scrapped by the owner after me.

I only had it for a very short time, and although I can honestly say it was, without doubt the most unreliable car I have ever owned (having left me stranded in all parts of the UK and finally in Austria with a myriad of minor/major electrical faults mainly) it was a joy (in the dry) when everything came together.

I had the Turbo Maestro - used to have it looked after by Motobuild. Friend had a white Monty Turbo.

The Maestro was great, really surprised a number of more fashionable hot hatches at the time, I always hankered after fitting the Motobuild side exit exhaust that one of their cars had fitted.

Well, it's taxed, Mot'd, insured and been nowhere this summer! Not even MG Saloon Day 2012! The sh!te British weather has dampened everything! and it's still flipping raining! Let's hope August brings better weather and Jum can flex his muscles!biggrinsmokin

Love it, makes me feel nostalgic for my Montego GTI, makes a change that nobody has suggested it is dreadful and must be crushed which seems par for the course on ph for our motoring heritage.

Sadly it is plain ignorance. Many moons ago i told a work colleague i had a Montego Turbo. He looked at me shocked " A montego (lonnnng pause ...Turbo??? , A Turbo ? on ..a Montego?, A Montego with...a Turbo?? " - he was completely bamboozled by this seemingly alien concept
