Really enjoyed reading through all of that and it's good to see the car's being used properly.

Let me know if you want to sell it. whistle

just finished a very dirty day in the garage...

Removed the rest of the AC system
Wasn't sure what to do with the emissions control air pump, so ditched it too

out with the old and in with the new

Main issue was the fact that the new radiator didn't have fixings for the oil cooler - I had a new one to fit and ended up fixing it with cable ties! it is actually very secure.

The electric fan has been ditched as it is running very rough, I have therefore left the mechanical one on.
I plan to get the electric fan repaired or replaced and then ditch the mechanical one.

Tomorrow will be bleeding and testing.....

Did Donington Park on the 5th, great day!
Car ran like a dream and all the cooling system worked as it should clap

Only took two photos so will have to wait and see what Javelin put up on their site

All tidy and no leaks...

200 miles completed on track!

The to do list:
- fit rear camber arms
- full alignment after lowering the front a little
- electric fan install

Went for a "budget" camber arm set as I read a couple of reviews on the forums. They look ok for me..

a couple of pictures from Donington - these were the ones off the Javelin page as I didn't fancy purchasing any this time

Oh, fitted a spoiler now too - I think I have lost the OEM look now....

She is in to the garage next week to get some new diff mounting bushes, rear camber arms and a couple of oil leaks fixed.
The suspension will be reset and aligned - can't wait.

and a quick one of the dog chariot as I thought it looked good...

Alright mate, hope all is well!

I have done this is stages over a few months so I will try to remember...

This is what I have used...

8mm fuel hose (about 2,5 meters)
8mm "Y" fittings http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/race/fuel-unions-fi...
a BMW E36 M3 Evo Fuel Pump (I got a 2nd hand one from eBay)
a BMW 318is E36 Fuel Sender unit - which I fitted the E36 M3 Evo pump to (again from eBay)
Hose Joiners - which I epoxy'd in to the fuel pump/sender units for the return hose http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/race/fuel-unions-fi...
8mm hose clamps

This is my original pump (from the drivers side). I drilled a hole and then glued the fitting in for the return hose.

This is the fuel pump and sender unit from a 318 that I fitted the Evo pump to

It looks like there already is a return hose fitting but that is just a blank.

So, this is the drivers side where the pump discharges in to the Y fitting along with the discharge from the other side

The return hose is connected to my glued in fitting.

This is the passenger side
Hi Bully, sorry to drag this up but I could do with a bit of help with this mod.

A guide I read said you need 12mm to 8mm joiners for the return pipes. Am I right in thinking that you just used 12mm joiners in the tops of the sender housings? Or am I wide of the mark here?

Also any special reason why you used a 318is sender unit on one side?

EDIT: Just gone back and double checked and it actually seems they used the blanked off pipe on the top of the unit which is 12mm, hence the 12->8mm joiners.

I also meant to ask you whether there's any piping on the bottom of those return inlets of if they just let the fuel drop straight through them, back into the tank?

Also interested in whether yours are always on or if you run a switch to turn the 2nd pump on manually?

yer, I think the 12mm fittings were for the larger connections on the top of the units. I decided it would be better to epoxy the smaller fittings in.
I don't remember if I put pipe on the inside or just left it to drop/return from the fitting on the top. I adduce I just left it to drop.
There was a reason I used a 318 unit but for the life of me I can't remember. I think it just has to be from a non-M3. Possibly something to do with the size?

Sorry I can't be much more help, I will try to find the guide I used for you

I don't recall using a dremel.
The only think I do remember was getting an eye full of fuel when I cut the pipe between the pump and the engine - be careful.
It was all reasonably straight forward.

yer, it used a syphon pipe but this is now not in use. The mod is working well and I only get fuel starvation once the fuel light now.
I purchased a few bags of random size clips but think I used about 6 or so

Spot on, cheers.

Did you remove the syphon pipe thingy or just leave it in place? I've got this pretty much sorted in my head now, so will gather up the bits and post it up on my thread when I get to it.

Cheers Bully thumbup

Saw you on track at donny. Will have to pop over and say hi next time. I was in the blue e36. Found your build thread by chance this time!

200 miles on track thats a lot of miles i think i did only 120. Was getting brake fluid starvation into craners which was amusing!
yer, I came to see you but you were not in the garage at the time. I did do a lot of laps that day, some slow causing ones to cool down too.
Brake fluid starvation sounds fun...!
My car is off for tracking at the weekend so looking forward to Anglesea next week

just taken her to have the suspension reset and aligned.
This is what I have suggested:

Front Camber: -3 degrees 0 minutes
Rear Camber: -2 degrees 0 minutes
Front Toe: 0 degrees 7 minutes OUT
Rear Toe: 0 degrees 2 minutes IN

Ride height:
320mm front
305mm rear
(Measure center hub to arch)

Look forward to a blast at Anglesea next week - the weather aint looking too great however...

I'm using the EBC Blue Stuff pads and have to say they are very good for the price.
Ideally the car needs a BBK but the expense is a bit high considering the use.

The EBC green pads were crap on the track and over heated very quickly. The Blue Stuff fives me about 15 minutes hard track driving before overheating.
I have rattled through a fair few sets now and never seen them break up. I get about 3 track days to a set of front and about 4 to 5 out of the rear.

So, as the car is just about to hit 100,000 miles, I thought best to send it off for a service. I have done nothing in the last four years other than change the oil and filters.
I have sent it off to Garage 786 in Leicester for timing, valve clearances/shims and a general service.
I hope to see it back soon but one of the hub bearings needed replacing (front left so suspect Donington is to blame) and the threads on the rocker cover are all knackered.

In the meantime, I have decided to paint my spare, spare wheels:

I had them blasted back to bare alloy, just like the green ones.

I also went insane and decided to purchase a carbon fibre bonnet... this however got delivered damaged and I'm now trying to decide if it is worth sending it back or negotiating for a bit of money to tidy it up...
