Thanks very much again dude! smile

Yes the AP's are two piece and they fit on over the hub fine (no cutting or grindiing or anything required) basically the alloy bell reduces the unpsprung weight, and reduces the rotational mass or something like that! *Lewis's brain implodes* biggrin Either way they will be more effective than the haggard old cheap hispec discs!

is that a similar principle to fitting lighter wheels then?

fantastic build by the way. Nice to see one of these hatches that isn't mullered by the boy racer brigade.

Yeah, but as the mass is closer to the point of rotation is has less effect on the total rotating mass. Affect on unsprung mass is (relatively) unaffected by position.

Indeed, unsprung mass is just that, unsprung mass. The lighter everything that is hanging off the springs the better.

Rotational mass is a bit different, anything that is heavy will have a worse effect in rotation the further away it is from the axle. Ideally we'd like brake discs to be narrow in diameter, however, they work better when they have a large diameter. A larger diameter means that they have more rotational inertia to turing.

So like everything in motorsport engineering it is all about compromise.

My god this is looking good now. I've not looked at the thread for the best part of a year.

You'd better be a good driver to appreciate all of this - lol!

Good work chap!

Sorry to derail this thread...

I've just bought my second car and it's a phase 2 VTR and my God I love it!

It's such a fun car, so many people over look these because of the image, but you'd be quite hard pressed to find a similar car with similar performace and insurace for a young driver.

Group 13 insurance for a young driver, a VTR is 7. Good choice on the VTR mate, this thread shows what you can achieve once premiums go down.

Panda 100HP and Suzuki Swift Sport are two, although they cost a little more to buy initially, and the Swifts more VTS level. I tried both and both were great, but the Swift just felt like less of a van and more power is always nice. There's also the Ford Sport KA.

Keep us posted Track_cit, it's and awesome bit of kit, and I'm looking forward to the next update.

Granted these are all better cars overall, but for my age the VTR has everything I need - At a suitable price.

you have made the wipers lhd on rhd car so they wont sweep infront of driver in corner, suppose it all up to who ya know when it comes to mot time,i dont have a cat but it passes?smileawesome looking car by the way, where is the gear lever from(red anodised bit)
hehe If you read back a few pages he has done it because of the throttle bodies and the wiper mechanism getting in the way. Switching to LHD moves the mechanism over enough.

If you also look at the majority of PSA cars on the road (mainly the Pug 207) their wipers are lhd. My friend had a VW MK2 Golf Driver with lhd wipers.

Anyway back to the Saxo........

Right more updates:

Collected my bespoke carbon fibre air intakes from Streamline - they are 74mm long so longer than the previous, but not so long that I have to cut the scuttle panel. They also have the added bonus of being super lightweight and super sexy looking too! biggrin Another top job by the guys at Streamline, thanks. Also collected my fully rebuilt gearbox, all new synchros and bearings, uprated input shaft bearing and shot blasted casing so it's all mint. Here are some photo's...more to come after xmas when I have money again! biggrin

Fantastic build so far mate, I am massively impressed with the level of detail that has gone into this, its inspirational!

I was planning on adding a post up of my motor in the RC section but I think I'll tidy it up a bit first! boxedin
