As for the above comments (I didn't get to see what you may have actually written before it was edited!!) I have no idea who you are and to be honest couldn't give a st what you think of the car and what I am doing to it!!! biggrin

Lovely car, the noise these make with a k&n is definetly in my top 5 of all cars, and the fact you can have it there when you want it and not when you want it as its only induction noise is a bonus.

Dont like the vortex kit at all though!
They do make a great noise and as you say can still be fairly discreet when it needs to be! As for the Votex kit I didn't like it when I got the car and was going to sell it on but it has grown on me and sets it apart from all the other MK3's.

Managed to get the bonnet done today with the help of a mate (he did most of it!!) Can't wait to get the whole car finished now! cloud9

Also gave the sideskirt and front splitter a coat of satin black

Need to finish off a few bits and get it into somewhere warm to do the rest of the wrap as its getting to cold to do it outside now.

Very nice VR you've got! Abit unsure on the wrapping myself but it does look good - very scene, kinda E38 but different if you know what I mean (not meant to offend). I'm very intrigued on how far your going with it, the whole car or as is?

Nice detailing website btw! An old mate is a detailer too, elite-detailing.
Thanks for the comments about the site! biggrin

I know what you mean did contemplate a matte colour but is a bit played out now and i was looking after a mk5 golf that had been wrapped in this colour and loved it! So when it came to do the bodywork on the car I didn't want to spend a fortune on a respray (which I probably wouldn't be happy with!).

The whole car will be wrapped blue, the skirts, splitter, mirrors, spoiler will be painted satin black. Really want it finished now but will be a few months before that happens. frown

Thats fking bang out of order.

Either your a friend of W4X LG and this is banter or you are just a genuine

I can vouch for Jamus here. Someone else used his account to post that when he left it logged in.

It's unfortunate that he's been banned and is unable to defend himself but there it is, he's a good mate of mine and if I recall what was written correctly I'm 100% certain it's not something he'd write.
As I said in another post I didn't read what was put by Jamus originally but if as you say it was done by someone else then he should be given the chance to explain and put his point across to whoever deals with it. smile

Quick update from the weekend:

Got second side skirt off and painted satin black, also gave the spoiler and both sets of bumper vents a few coats of satin black.

Then set about sorting the small bit of rust at the bottom of the wing.

Cleaned out about a kilo of dirt from behind the plastic inner arch! surprised the wings are in as good condition as they are!

All done

Thats all the small bits sorted now just the tops of the sills to do now. These are the worst part of the whole car!!

Bit of an update, not a great deal has been happing to the car lately due to work and the weather but have managed to do a few little jobs to try and keep things moving in the right direction!!

A wile ago I retrimmed the headlining in black and have been meaning to get hold of some of the golf cabby sun visors for it along with some black grab handles from a passat, but this never happened so the other day armed with some satin black paint and bored due to the snow a resprayed the visors and handles!! paperbag

Handles before

After

Sun visors

Surprised how well they came out to be honest! Will probably be swopped for proper black ones at some point depending on how well they wear.

Also removed the door handles and soomthed off the ridge detail that runs along them and gave them a coat of satin black to match all the bodykit.

And finally I want to fit a rear strut brace as I will be running no back seats but couldn't find one in the design i wanted and no one would reply to any enquiry emails so thought sod it I will make my own!!boxedin So ordered some alloy tube and plate (enough to do two just incase!).

Hopefully next week I can get all the bits fabricated and then get it all welded up by a mate.

Thanks mate!

Managed to get my strut brace pieces fabricated up on new years day, probably to the annoyance of my neighbours!
Got end plates up and then bent them, measured and cut tube to length and then shaped them to fit the end plates.

Mid-fabrication

Then got a local metal shop to weld them all up for me

Fabrication finished, just need to tidy up the end plates to make them look a bit neater and decide if i should paint/polish/powdercoat them and sell the second one on.

Picked up my new Bastuck stainless steel rear silencer delete pipe today from Regal Autosport in southampton and can't wait to get it on and hear what it will sound like!! woohoo

Once fitted it will have standard manifold into a Milltek decat, Bastuck suitcase silencer delete pipe and back into a Milltek backbox. Should sound pretty sweet!

Rob - I got the metal from a company on ebay really quick service and not to expensive. Also what make are your mounts and where did you get them? Do you notice much difference with the TD gearbox mount?

Thanks Matt, the bastuck pipe dosn't fit onto the milltek as they are different sizes (was surprised to find the milltek is only a 2" system!!) and join in different places furious

So now the milltek is for sale so I can replace it with a full 2.5" Bastuck system with no silencer and just backbox with custom tip welded on! biggrin

Well managed to sell the Milltek system pretty quickly and got the new system ordered up straight away!

I now have a 2.5" system from the decat back with no silencers!! biggrin Really impressed with the quality of the work on the new exhaust and can't wait to get it back on the road and see if it makes much difference to the drive! driving

Suitcase delete pipe definately looks like it will flow a lot better!

Current tip to the exhaust

This will be cut off this week hopefully and the new tip welded on, going for a 3.5" straight pipe rather than the rolled inward one that is currently fitted.

Will try and get a video of how it sounds soon, once I have sorted the alarm issues.

Do you have a 6 branch manifold fitted as well? Just a thought with your exhaust system, you will need a flexy section between the manifold and the centre section or you will end up replacing exhaust hangers on a weekly basis.

As for the sound, ive been in a VR6 with a 6branch straight through to a standard back box and surprisingly it wasn't that boomy and noisy during normal driving but when you gave it some beans it was boarderline too loud. At the moment my corrado runs a 6branch, decat then leading into a Magnex stainless system with 1 silencer and a 4inch outlet and from 3000rpm upwards at WOT it is simply cloud9
I don't have a 6 branch on mine, have thought about it but its a lot of effort to change and know they are prone to cracking if you don't have a stiffer front engine mount or flexy section between as you say. May fit one if i take the engine out next winter.

Time for a big update!!

Got bored of waiting to finish wrapping the car and with the weather getting better I want to start using the car so thought F@*K it I will paint it!

I was trying to decide between satin black (as I love the way it looks) and a matt colour, but still loved the colour of the vinyl wrap so decided to find a similar colour in a matt finish, bring on a large box of Montana Light Blue graffiti paint!!

Some of the inspiration for the change in direction!

The colour match is absolutely perfect for what I wanted!!

So set about painting! The wing is in paint and the bonnet is wrapped in this picture shows how close the colour is!

Front end being sprayed

Then last weekend made a big step and got the back end done!

Rear end getting back together

Probably wont be to many peoples taste but I love the way its coming out!

It should be ok, it is a lot tougher than standard paint it would seem, but time will tell! I will probably pick up some of the Swissvax Opaque range to look after it.

You did all that, to that finish, with rattle cans? Looks superb, an awesome colour choice.

Sir, I applaud you clap
Thanks! beer

The graffiti paint is so much easier to use and get a decent finish, (helps being matt aswell though) They cover in one coat and there is probably twice as much paint in a 400ml can compared to a normal paint can. I have used 7 cans of blue so far with most panels having 2-3 coats, probably use 10-11 cans in total. So less than £100 all in for painting the lot.

Few pics with the wheels back on one side
