There are people of all abilities and all types of cars. Yesterday we had a Porker GT3RS and a diesel Mini.
They do novice days too which apparently are good.

I don't think it's expensive for what it is, the problem may be there so cheap now people will buy them that don't expect 4 figure inspection 2 services (not all routine stuff but what is going to be routine on a 12+ year old car).
Interesting to see the costs. If you take away the fuel and insurance, it's not too bad.I'm paying about £400 insurance and don't do many miles.
I just gave it an oil service myself and the next will be Inspection 1.

Car's looking well Ben! Glad you are pleased with it. Getting it back to its former glory was a bit of a labour of love, and I'm glad I enjoyed it in peak fitness before selling it.
Must admit to wincing slightly when I saw it without the seat in the back, but I'm sure you'll do a sterling job of the transformation! I do have the original airbox if you want it. Personally, I found it a bit quiet! I also have some Bilstein PSS9s if you're interested. Let me know.
For the record, it was never tracked, and I was assured that the air flow meter was suitable for 3.0 and 3.2 M3s. The part number is also the same I believe. The car was running rough, so I fitted a used one which cured the probelm.
I've book marked the thread, and will watch with interest!

Car is going very well! I promise that the cage will be a neat install. I will be taking out the rest of the interior this week and then putting as much back as I can after. I really want to keep the standard/original look.
I want to push the car on the track so 'safety first' and all that...
I will probably tale a look at the rear arches next year to keep the rust away.

Been spending a bit of time on the brakes today.
I have decided to keep the original M3 disks as they are in nearly new condition. I had purchased some EBC disks but now realise that they arn't as good as the BMW ones.
I have fitted HEL brake pipes and EBC Blue Stuff pads.
The front was fitted with Yellow Stuff which still had a lot of meat on them but they were breaking down at the edges.
I have also cleaned and painted the calipers with a bit of Red High Temp paint.
New bleed nipples and new clips on the outside of the calipers.
I'm really happy with the way they look. Break testing will be later in the week
Only done the front for now.

Wonderful cars - I miss mine - and, as others have said already, a bargain purchase assuming you get a good one which looks to be the case here.
I agree on the 'Dave F' kit, they really add to the occasion as the OEM box is too quiet IMO.
I'm not sure how far you intend to take modifications - although I would say a custom cage is quite a move! - but I'd wholeheartedly recommend an E46 M3 LSD (3.62 ratio as opposed to 3.23 for the E36), especially if it's going to see a lot of track time.
Other mods I can remember off the top of my head are the Rogue Engineering rear top/shock mounts & a braided clutch line, both worth doing.
I'll be watching this thread with much interest, look forward to the updates.

I'm not really planning on doing much more for a bit now but will look at your ideas.
I think a clutch line is a good idea, think this is easy to do? I have to put it in the garage soon as I need to go away and earn some more money, having spent everything I have on the car and Christmas.
