An Alpina V8 for 6.5k, enjoy it!
Can you elaborate? I thought it was an M-tuned engine, not a 'Pina?I love these, the colour, wheels and exhausts make them look awesome.
Seem to sound so good too compared to 540i's etc.
I don't think they are actually as quick as paper says, but still - enough for something of the size!

I didn't know this either. I love these, the colour, wheels and exhausts make them look awesome.

OP it seems like a lot of car for the outlay.

£6500 sounds a lot of money for a huge petrol engined car.
This sort of logic always baffles me.. Should a Ferrari Enzo only be worth a couple of grand? Or a Rolls Royce Phantom? No. A car is worth what people are willing to pay, and the fact of the matter is that a 4.6 X5 is still worth good money (more than a 4.4, as they're rarer and more powerful). After a quick eBay, the cheapest 4.6 I can find is up for sale for £6500, so OP, regardless of what some people may say, it looks like you got a good deal. curly72 said:

I sure hope that a comment like this, that it doesn't have a standard BMW exhaust on it. If so
Yep, all standard including the exhausts, I take it you've never listened to oneEdited by curly72 on Thursday 15th March 08:42
Or put it this way, anything this side of a Ferrari or TVR with a stock exhaust will not likely be sounding amazing.
When the 4.6 sport first launched I blagged one from BMW for a month as a demo for my next co car – fantastic fun, but a drink habit that would make Gazza blush!
I agree re the exhaust note, foot to the floor and the growl was addictive, in fact even crawling along in traffic it was quite audible. I also remember the performance and handling being fantastic for such a huge monster of a car.
One lasting memory I have was about a week after BMW delivered it was everything electrical related stopped working, no TV, no computer, no ‘leccy seats – nothing. Too it back to the local BMW garage and a nice Gent in a white overall sat me in reception, got me a coffee and a bun and took the car into the technical area. As I peered through the viewing area window I watched him take the boot trim apart and remove a big silver box, then put it on his workbench and walk off. About ½ hour later he returned, put the silver box back in the boot and put all of the trim back together – seemingly having done bugger all to the car. As he handed the keys back I asked what was wrong, and what the silver box was..........?
Turned out the silver box was the ‘brain/computer’ and it needed to be left unplugged for 15 mins to completely power down and re-set itself, in essence he re-booted my X5!!

Why didn't he just disconnect the battery? I agree re the exhaust note, foot to the floor and the growl was addictive, in fact even crawling along in traffic it was quite audible. I also remember the performance and handling being fantastic for such a huge monster of a car.
