You must be Matt's brother? I know Matt through CCUK!
I am, it was just a surprise, did you see my 2 in the garage?

The black one? It was parked on the street at the time (this was a couple years ago now). Looked good, iirc you had some Azev-A's in the garage to go on or something at the time?

I test drove it from the owner in Sheffield who fitted the exhaust and wheel. IIRC he fitted spax? suspension too? He also had a lot of the car painted and decided to colour code the bumpstrips from the original black as some other bloke noticed.

He wanted £2800 for it iirc with 85k. I then saw it come back on pistonheads later in 2010 with 90k from a different seller, but he obviously didn't sell and traded it in!

I just fancied a more original standard one in the end so bought a low mileage original standard rev5. If anyone fancies one let me know, it's only got 75k on it now and in great condition!

Im pretty sure its on stock springs, as they are black and look like they have been there for 15 years!

That matches up, the trader I bought it from said the previous owner was from Sheffield.

Maybe returned it to standard then, I'm sure he'd fitted shocks and springs though as he said to me it greatly improved the handling!

One of the reasons I didn't buy it was because it had a decat and the mot was due soon!

Anyway glad to see its still going strong, are the back of the sills ok? If i remember right they were ever so slightly starting to bubble.

Even the T1R is getting scarce in stock sizes, the only other alternative seems to be the Falken 912's.
In the very near future (couple of weeks probably) I'm going to have to make the choice. I'm a bit wary about how quick the Toyos will wear but the only other choices are Falken or Nexen.

I'm always happy to pay for decent rubber and I want to keep the stock alloys. Are the Toyos really my only choice or does anyone know if the Falkens are any good?

I have a cat that goes on at MOT time, its an easy job on an NA.

The sills started to go this year to the point of MOT failure. At some point I'll get the whole lot done, at the moment I have just had the rear bits chopped and replaced. TBH, I wasn't too fussed about them when I got it as rusting sills is just the reality of owning a 90's Japanese car (or most older cars in general - more a question of when, not if its going to rust somewhere!

The Falkens are decent enough. They aren't as grippy as a T1R, but are harder so will last longer.

Lovely MR2 mate, I have Falken (ZE912) on mine and so far I have been impressed. Wear rate has been pretty good.

Quick question, what is the diameter of your Momo wheel?

Thinking of changing my tired looking standard 350mm wheel for something smaller but not sure what size suits.

Cheers

I would have to measure it! Its either a 260mm or 280mm.

It does block the dials a little though, so I think a ~300mm would be the best balance.

Thanks

I was looking at 300-320mm as a good compromise. How's the low speed turning or parking with that diameter? Heavy?

Cheers. I fancy getting some 17x9's for the rear, but they aren't too common!

Was never a fan of over 16's on the 2's. Looked funny. I had some racing hart wheels on my 2 when I had it, in 16's, and they looked, in my opinion, better proportionally to the 17's and up that come folks had.
