Wait, it can't be a pre-2004 because that's when they introduced the silver gauge surrounds (I think?)...
OK, 2005 S60 D5.
Unless its had the dash replaced, which is possible as they were problematic I seem to recall?

It is indeed a 2005 s60 d5 se... Not seen one of this spec before though
2 owner car, 84k, full history, cambelt, water pump etc done. It's a very VERY tidy car
£2500
Think I've done alright.

Why thank you! Only know this because as I said I bought a 54 plate V70 D5 about a month ago, so know about the dials, recognise the switchgear / stereo etc.
Plus a PH'er after a commuter car would (presumably) get the euro 3 D5 for maximum reliability/economy, so it couldn't be much later than 2005
Not dissimilar to mine in fact:
Although I get the joyous spaceball
So just got in...
So far so good, a bit choppy around corners at road speed akin to Xbox feedback for massive under steer. Likely it's going to need two lower arms at some point as they were picked up on the mot.
That's it.
Other than that it is immaculate, and drives like a Swedish 5 pot magic carpet if IKEA made such a thing.
Some more pictures...
So far I've figured it's an SE as its got cruise etc, also it's got the winter pack as its got heated seats and headlight washers.
How do I confirm its a euro 3 lump in it?

Looking at options for integrating an Aux in / Iphone input to the standard stereo
GROM units get good reviews but unsure if i need to pay for the top of the range if there is a cheaper alternative.

By all accounts it just bolts into the CD Changer output on the back of the head unit.
They also offer a bluetooth option but to be honest i dont really use the phone in the car?!

Nice buy op. I got a real soft spot for the Euro 3 s60 D5's after I brought one of these cars as my commuter hack back in September. I paid £1000 for it with full service history, 8 months MOT, decent condition and it has heated leather memory seats, an epic stereo, folding mirrors and returns a calculated 46-48mpg. Thats doing my commute during the night, all over London (I work on the underground) and then my Mrs hops in it and does her commute in the day. I do have a few niggles, two since I got it but have never bothered to sort. 'Alarm System Service Required' and I am missing a boot strut. It has also recently started going into Limp mode under very heavy acceleration, I am pretty sure its the fresh air pipe into the turbo as it feels quite soft.
I brought it hating its looks but it has slightly grown on me, and theres just something about it I have grown to love. Mine owes me next to nothing now either as using it instead of my petrol e60 5 series has meant I have saved £900 in fuel since September. It is also such a comfortable cruiser, I have taken it on holiday to Wales and blasted over the Black Mountain pass in it (surprisingly fun and capable on a hoon to be honest), I plan to take it to Scotland later this year and probably into Europe too. Its a great car.
Mine is due its MOT next month, if it passes that I will treat mine to an oil and filter change as it will finally have my heart. I will also sort the other niggles I mentioned above.
Also I would go with the Grom unit for aux etc, I brought a cheapy one and while all its functions work USB/SD/AUX/Bluetooth it hisses through the speakers which rises with RPM, you can only hear it between tracks or on very low volume but annoying none the less. I think its an earthing issue but have never bothered to investigate.
Good luck with your car!

i got the GROM unit for my same-year-as-yours V70 D5 and while not without issues it's pretty good. GROM units get good reviews but unsure if i need to pay for the top of the range if there is a cheaper alternative.

It's very easy to install and there's firmware for it to emulate a CD changer or SAT radio (the latter option allows the track-names of your MP3's to be shown on the car's head unit)
the sound quality on these 850 dolby systems is really impressive for a factory unit

The S60 D5s are great cars...we ran one for 2 yrs and other than the usual servicing, tyres and a wheel refurb (the 18" BBS split rims were cack when we got the car), it didn't need anything else (sorry, I forgot they like headlamp/indicator bulbs!).
The turning circle needs to be watched as its a bit like turning a super tanker, but the Volvo S60/70 seats are one of the comfiest I've sat in & its a useful car to whip down the motorway in given the BIB favoured them a lot as unmarked cars in the past & people strangely move over, especially if you leave the lights permanently as Volvo intended I.e. On all the time.!!
They also give a great peace of mind with safety given how well they're equipped with safety bits - a great choice & when we sold ours we were inundated with interest (same mileage/age & also v.similar price!) & the buyer travelled over 2 hrs to get to us as well

I'm a bit confused as to why you have a facelift car but with a pre facelift steering whhel (cruise and stereo buttons etc).
I have a 2001 2.4T and a 2003 R and they both have the same old style buttons unlike the posters v70 above.
Either way they are so much comfy car for the money. Good buy.

I have no idea why it is an odd spec car... It just is I guess. It was registered 31/05/05 so is a very late crossover car.
Used it yesterday for the first time in its new role and it's fair to say I'm sure I've made the right choice, it is a perfect motorway cruiser, comfy seats, cruise control, stable and also plenty grunty enough.
Things I've noticed...
1) headlights are not the brightest. Now I've swapped out of a xenon equipped a4 so I know I'm going to struggle to match it but can anyone give a personal recommendation for bulbs?
2) the steering doesn't like roundabouts, whilst on say 3/4 lock at road speed the wheel bucks backwards and forwards. I'm 90% sure this is front lower arms/ drop link related. I've seen a kit from IPDD that is a bush insert they reckon cures most of the s60's problems
3) the aircon needs a re gas
4) the reset button on the info stalk appears to do nothing
Still... I'm happy with it!

If the air con is not working its like a knackered compressor rather than a regas unfortunately. Just make sure its regassed with dye in the system to spot a leak. You might be lucky and it holds but this is quite a common problem.
The reset button for the obc needs holding down on every section you want resetting such as average mpg and average speed.
The headlight adjustment sometimes needs looking at or the bulbs might just be upside down and this makes a huge difference as I found out.
